Construct a pirate treasure chest

Construct a pirate treasure chest

Aye matey! Here’s a kids’ art and craft project worth turning pirate for! Gather your treasure and make your very own pirate’s treasure chest to store your precious booty. Here’s how.

What you need:

  • Tissue box (empty)
  • Black, white, yellow and red craft paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Coloured markers

Number of players:
1+

Activity:

Glue black craft paper to the top, bottom and sides of the tissue box.

Cut around three sides of the tissue box, about 3cm from the top. This will be the opening lid of the treasure chest.

Bend back the uncut side of the box to allow the chest lid to open and close smoothly.

Glue red craft paper to the inside of the lid and chest.

Write “Keep Out” on the white craft paper and glue into place on top of the chest lid.

Cut 3cm strips from yellow craft paper and glue them to all the edges of the treasure chest.

Open the chest and fill it with beads, sequins or any other treasure you might have.

Place on your bedside table and dare anyone brave enough to try and steal your loot!
