Thank you so much for selecting me to trial the V-Tech baby monitor!! I love so many things about this product! Firstly, the set up is so easy. Once the product arrived I had a quick read of instructions, which were very easy to follow. From there you plug in and go!

The camera on the parental unit is great quality, clear image with no pixel distortion which means you get a nice crisp clear image every time. Day of night, the images that are shown on the parental unit are very clear and you can easily see baby – I really liked the clarity. I could zoom in and even see her breathing! Being able to change the angle and position of the camera via the parental unit is such a great function for when your baby turns into a toddler and will be moving around his or her bed often.

I loved being able to see the temperature in the room. This was especially helpful when we went away on holiday as we did not have a fan in the room to control temperature. I was able to determine the temperature of the room before getting my baby ready for a nap so I knew what she should be wearing to ensure she wasn’t too hot or too cold – great peace of mind! I was able to check regularly to ensure that the room wasn’t too hot, thus ensuring that my newborn baby wasn’t overheating. I think a lot of parents would find this feature valuable particularly during a hot summer or cold winter.

I found this product most helpful when we were away at Christmas time as the house we were in was big and the master bedroom was at the far end of the house. This monitor allowed me to put baby down to bed and take the parental unit out the front deck so I could watch my other kids play in the water. Without the extensive coverage of the units, I would not have been able to watch my other kids safely as I would have been back on forth between the bedroom to see if she was awake.

The other great feature is how sensitive the motion detector is. It flickers on whenever she moved or made any kind of noise so I was able to see when she was starting to wake up and get everything organised before she fully woke for feeds. This is fantastic as it means you can get to your baby before they start crying which makes nappy changing and feeding less frantic and stressful. This feature also worked well when she was stirring in her sleep so I was able to watch and see if she was actually waking or just stirring.

The control that allows you to talk to the baby like a walkie talkie is very useful. I could ‘sush’ baby back to sleep without having to go in the room. This meant that she wasn’t smelling my milk and waking thinking it was Kai time! The ids also enjoy this feature as my son discovered he could be lazy and ask me questions via the monitor when I was breastfeeding in the room – Cheeky but Clever! I haven’t used the lullabies but I do think that is a good idea, maybe a white noise function would be helpful for some.

I didn’t have any issues with the power supply to the parental unit as I made sure it was charged or ran it straight from the power so we never had a problem with this. The cords on both units are long enough to ensure the camera could be placed wherever it needed to same as the parental unit.

Both units are sturdy and strong yet lightweight, which I also really liked. They look very slick and modern but not at the expense of its functionality or durability – Key when you have a busy household and things can get dropped or shoved down side of a couch!

Overall I absolutely recommend this product highly for not only first time mums, but as a 3rd time mum I almost found it even more helpful as you have other kids to look after and chase around so you do get distracted with life! I had never used a camera function on my monitors before but I would not go back to an audio only unit now after trying this product. The peace of mind it give and the handy array of functions are really good.

After discussing this product with my sister – she went and upgraded her audio to this video unit and is also very impressed. We all give it a big thumbs up. Thanks to Kidspot and Vtech for letting us trial this product!!

I was so excited when I found out I was going to have the chance to trial this product. As soon as it arrived I was able to test it out as my 9month old was having his nap. The set up was super easy as you just plug the baby unit into power and turn on, then just turn on the parent unit and move the camera to the right place.
Eventhe grandparents have used it and found it awesome when they babysit as they don’t know the normal wake up sounds etc.
The camera is really clear even at nighttime on night mode. The sound is perfect-there is absolutely no static sounds and it will pick it even the smallest whimper from your baby.
My absolute favourite feature on this monitor is that it tells you the room temperature! This summer has been exceptionally hot so knowing what temperature the room is has helped me keep it at a nice cool temp for my son to have good sleeps instead of waking up sweating and being grumpy.
I would highly recommend this monitor to any parent as it means you can trust that your baby is safe and happy.
The 2 way talking is great for if your baby is only stirring abit you can talk/sing/shush from wherever you are and baby will go right back to sleep without you having to go into their bedroom.
We have taken this monitor to multiple different places over the Christmas/New Year period and it has been perfect…as long as you have power you know baby is safe.

We were so excited to be selected to put the VTech BM3500 Safe & Sound Pan & Tilt Video Monitor to the test. I never had any kind of monitor with my eldest but now that I have been using this one for the past few weeks, I so wish I did.

My first impression upon taking it out of the box was that it is a very modern looking monitor that is quite compact and looked simple to use.
There is a parent unit (looks a bit like a small tablet) and a baby unit (like a webcam) and both have their own chargers. The baby unit must be plugged in at all times but the parent unit can be portable as it has a chargeable battery.
When we first started using the monitor, I had my daughters cot in my room. It was quite tricky initially to get it in the right place (no fault of the monitor but the power points are in stupid places in my bedroom) we ended up using an extension cord, however the charging cord is a decent length and would probably be fine in most rooms.
The parent unit holds its charge for quite a long time but I recommend keeping it on charge when not using it as it needs 12 hours to be fully charged.

We don’t have a huge house but we have a garage and rumpus room that are separate from the house and I also have a 4 year old who likes me to go outside and jump on the tramp with her or play with chalk, so these were the main reasons I wanted to give a monitor a go.
The Vtech video monitor has fantastic range. Our rumpus room is thick concrete, no Windows etc, set into a hill. We don’t get wifi signal down there and phone reception is limited, however we had no issues with the monitor when down there, whatsoever. I also tested it’s range by walking to the end of my street (not that I’d ever normally need to do that) and I could go about 200metres roughly.
Both the audio and picture are nice and clear. The monitors picture turns off once there is no noise for 50 seconds and comes back on when it detects noise, which is a handy battery saving feature.

My favourite feature was the fact that you can communicate with the baby unit. A couple of times miss 11months started to wake up and I was able to just sing to her and get her to resettle. Also, although she is super easy to get to sleep and usually falls asleep straight away, sometimes she does decide to play in her cot for a bit so I was able to tell her to lie down and go to sleep. It was so cute, seeing her puzzled expression when she heard my voice, but couldn’t quite work out where I was.
Another cool feature is the fact that you can choose from 5 lullabies, that play for 20 minutes. Although she doesn’t have or need a music based sleep association, now that she is getting a bit older, it has been quite handy over the past few weeks, especially in this heat, to get her to settle when she is restless.

I was really surprised at the clarity of the images and was really impressed with the infrared night mode too, I could clearly see her even in the pitch black and so this feature actually came in handy even when I was in the same room as her, as I was able to watch her sleeping, without using the light of my phone.

A week ago, I moved little miss into her own room. She is still breastfeeding at least twice at night so I have been putting it off, but I thought she was ready now and having this monitor has definitely made it easier. Although I can hear her from my room, I don’t like it to get to the point where she is actually crying out, so the fact that the monitor lights up and can be set to vibrate as soon as it detects noise, helps me to wake up sooner and go through to her. The talk feature means I can talk to her and sometimes get her to fall back to sleep without even getting out of bed.
Another great feature now that she is in her room is that I can monitor the temperature. The parent unit lets me know the temperature of the room that the baby unit is in, so I know wether she will need more layers or not. There is also a cool feature, although I don’t feel the need to use it at the moment, where you can set a desired temperature and if the room goes outside of that temperature, an alarm goes off.

Overall, I am so impressed by this monitor and they have definitely come along way from the old one way walkie talkie type things they had when I was younger. This Vtech video monitor , is jam packed full of awesome and useful features and my opinion on the need for a monitor has most certainly changed. 5 stars for the VTech BM3500 Safe & Sound Pan & Tilt Video Monitor.

We feel very privileged to have been selected to trial and review this monitor, thanks so much V-tech! With my youngest being the fourth baby in the house with three older brothers I quite often have to shut her door to keep the peace so was amazing to be able to keep a eye on her without opening the door and disturbing her.
It was amazingly handy over the Christmas period with extra people around being able to relax and still keep a close eye on her, also while away visiting family it was great and small enough to take along with us. I loved that the screen went into sleep mode overnight and only came on with sound or motion. I did also find that the battery life on the parent unit wasn’t the longest but was easy enough to move the charger around the house. I found the distance it reached really really good, my mother lives in a unit close to our house on the same property so was able to take the parent unit over to her and baby asleep while I popped out to pick up her brothers and she was able to watch her and get her if she woke! Being able to move the camera position from the parent unit is a great feature, especially when I hear my toddler get up in the morning and worry he’ll sneak in to babies room. Being able to turn the lullyby on from parent unit is great because sometimes if I’m busy with the other children and I know she hasn’t had long enough to sleep it’ll often settle her back to sleep easily on her own. Overall im very impressed with everything about this monitor and would definitely recommend it to everyone I know having a baby! Thanks again .

  5. Claret 04/01/2018 at 3:35 pm

I was thrilled to be selected to review this monitor! I had used a audio monitor with my first 2 kids but never a video one. It was great to be able to see my third child sleeping. The display was clean and easy to use. Being able to toggle with the camera so i could see around the room was a plus, especially when her big sister had a sleepover in her room. I could see them both!
The sound quality was awesome, the best feature for me was that is was voice or sounds activated so i didn’t have to have the parent unit display on the whole night. When my little one cried out (or banged into the side of the cot), the parent unit would turn on and I was in parent action mode. This was such a bonus for me because other monitors i have used seem to have a constant feedback noise whenever they were turned on, i had no problems with feedback noises or low hums with the VTech Safe & Sound Video monitor.
I used the talk back function a few times which was quite funny. My daughter had no idea where my voice was coming from and her little eyes lit up on the video display unit. Once i said “shhhh lie back down” she did so and i didn’t even have to get out of bed!! Anything that keeps a parent in bed that little bit longer is a huge win in my books! 🙂
My only issue with this product is that the battery didn’t seem to last very long on the parental unit so i was keeping it plugged in at night which meant another device plugged in the bedroom along with the radio, lamp, phone charger etc.
I would definitely recommend this monitor to those parent/s who want that extra reassurance that their little one is ‘Safe & Sound’. A+.

Wow what a fantastic baby monitor the VTec is. I have been using this product for two weeks and I must say it is the best baby monitor on the market that I have seen and so I am greatly thankful for getting this opportunity to trial this.

I love the inferred feature as I can anytime during the night check my baby without having to wake her by turning lights on and I can do this without having to enter her room, also the lullerby features are very calming and she love to relax to the different sounds and it helps her fall to sleep a lot sooner .

The VTec monitor is also very compact and dose not take up much space at all and for such a little package it has many wonderful features.
I love know the temperature of my baby’s room is just right and when and if it dose cool down I know that I can get the temp just right again in no time.

It’s also great being able to hear when my baby is awake and if upset I am able to talk to her through the parent set to calm her down and she just loves it.

The only small and this is small issue is that my parent unit needs charged sometimes twice in 24 hours . But as I say it is a wonderful very helpful unit and for being able to know my baby is safe and sound I wouldn’t ever want to go with out this monitor ever.

Thank you so very much for picking my family to trial this fantastic new baby monitor and I have recommended this monitor to friends who now are happy owners of the VTec monitor.
    Many thanks once again.😄😄😄😄

Wow this baby monitor really is great!! I only wish I had one of these with my older children. My newborn girl was born 5 weeks early so having a good quality baby monitor was a necessity for me so you can imagine my excitement to receive the vtech safe and sound pan and tilt video monitor.

I absolutely love being able to keep an eye on my baby with video while she is asleep in the bedroom. Being able to see inside her bed and know when she is stirring is amazing. I love the way the monitor beeps when there is movement as I know she is waking without her having started making a noise.

The temperature monitor is a great feature this time of year it is incredibly hot with this monitor I can see what the room temperature is to make sure she doesn’t overheat or get cold. This is going to be so appreciated over winter in keeping an eye out for when the room gets too cold.

My 5 year old son thinks the vtech is the bees knees and finds it fascinating to go and peer at me through the camera in baby’s room, such a novelty when I can use the talkback to speak to him. I better watch he doesn’t claim it as a walkie talkie I know he has plans!

This has so many cool features which are great the preset lullabies are very clever no need for a mobile the lullabies are soft and calming and are easily controlled through the parent unit.

I couldn’t recommend this monitor enough to other parents I have never tried a better monitor and this has given me such peace of mind when my daughter is in a separate room. I love being able to see my baby and the camera is just perfect for my family.

I was so excited to receive the Vtech monitor to review a few weeks ago. I have waited a while to write a review as I wanted to give a proper review. I used this monitor in my 3 month old sons room so I could keep an eye on him while running around after my toddler. Life is full on with these two and I desperately needed this monitor to be all people have raved about. And it is absolutely amazing! Set up was a breeze. All I had to do was plug in and go. The parent unit is lightweight and can fit in my pocket (which is surprising as ladies clothes have small pockets) so I can take it with me when I need to hang out the washing, play with the toddler, or be away from the power source. I love that it says the temperature, especially in this summer heat and figuring out what to put baby in so he doesn’t overheat. The picture quality is very clear, even with night vision. Unlike other video monitors I have used in the past, the camera can be adjusted through the parent unit, which is extremely handy so I don’t have to sneak in, try not wake the baby while tripping over things, and readjust the camera. Even my husband can use it with ease. I would highly recommend this to anyone who needs peace of mind that their little person is sleeping safely. As mums all we want is to have the best for our kids, and I can happily say that for me the Vtech monitor is the best.

  9. Jaimee 21/12/2017 at 10:58 pm

I love this baby monitor and only wish I had one when my son was a new born as I would have had so much use out of it with him and my daughter (he is 3 and she is 17 months). Especially with the temperature reading, being able to see whether they looked like they were resettling or needed me in there and of course that new mum worry of are they ok?!? Without disturbing them.

When it arrived I thought it looked great. Sleek and stylish and discreet but with a good size view screen.

It was very easy to insert the battery, connect and charge. Very intuitive, which I love!

I’m really impressed with the clarity of the picture and the range of movement of the camera. The sound quality is also really good.

The main reason I really wanted to trial and use this product is that I often need to hang the washing out or do a few jobs in the garden, or even just have a coffee outside in the sunshine with a friend (which is always easier without a little person around 🙂 and this allows me to do that without worrying about my daughter waking up and being upset and I can’t hear her or as is the case putting those jobs on hold until she’s up again.

I would definitely recommend this to others, especially as it can be used for newborns, babies, toddlers and even pre-schoolers. It gave me great peace of mind and was really easy to use.

  10. Nicolex2 21/12/2017 at 12:07 pm

This device is AMAZING! It had absolutely no issue with connecting to the monitor even with our mile long hallway, which to me is just fantastic!
Both the camera and parent unit are sleek and modern, and would blend into any household with ease. Being able to move it remotely is super beneficial also as it means no entering the room and disturbing baby! My favourite feature was the temperature reader, as it let me know whether her room was too warm which could be a reason for not settling. The features are sophisticated yet basic, and will make using this baby monitor a breeze. I had complete satisfaction using this model and felt my baby was safe without needing to be in her room. Would highly recommend this to all mums, new and experienced, for the peace of mind it brings! ❤

  11. Cathy 10/12/2017 at 9:14 am

Would love to try, I have angel care but I am looking for other options now. This would be great and gives me a piece of mind

  12. Emma 06/12/2017 at 7:26 pm

This would be a dream come true for me now as my girl now loves to climb I would love to know / see her. Also would love to know the temperature in her room we don’t have one as they are quite expensive so I’m always going in to check

  13. Jackie Horgan 01/12/2017 at 10:37 pm

Wow, I would love this. My baby monitor just stopped working and I’m finding it very difficult without them. I have a seven month old girl who has just started crawling and standing up in the last week. I need new monitors so I can out out washing when my wee bubba is asleep and do the chores (yawn!). I have a three year old who loves playing outside but without monitors, I have to keep going inside every few minutes to check on bubba to see if she has woken up. It’s very disruptive to our games of hide and seek and tag or whatever it may be! Bubba is still in our room but will be going into her room soon so new monitors are crucial for keeping an eye on her!
This product would be very much appreciated!-:-)

  14. tyandmoosmum2 01/12/2017 at 7:57 am

I am currently pregnant with number 3 and am in need of a baby monitor! I almost lost my oldest when he was a wee babe he suffered a severe asthma attack and I only heard him because of the monitor I had at the time. Definitely a must have in our house when the new baby is here. I could trial it on my daughter who has had health issues since birth, breathing problems included. Would give me piece of mind being able to hear her breathe from my room instead of getting up a million times a night to see if she is breathing!

  15. Kimsmummy 30/11/2017 at 7:56 pm

Wat a great opportunity yes plz!

  16. Kelsi Neary 29/11/2017 at 3:51 pm

Currently have a 1yr old we just moved into her own room with another baby due in March. Being able to trial this would give me such piece of mind as i’m often popping into my childrens rooms to check on them.

  17. Ruby111 28/11/2017 at 10:25 pm

My 7month old has just transitioned into her own bedroom in her cot, this would give me the peace of mind I really need to ne able to sleep at night, knowing I can see and hear her would be such a releif.

  18. Nidine Hutton 28/11/2017 at 5:28 pm

Mackenzie is 14 months old and would love to try this new monitor as i am a deep sleeper and would like to see how this compares to my other brand

  19. RhondaCaldwell 28/11/2017 at 7:34 am

I use a monitor as the house is way too long and can’t hear a thing down the other end. Have always wanted one that tilts and pans though, as all i can do is zoom in and it’s not very clear and i can’t put it up very high as it doesn’t tilt down. So it’s not out of kids reach. The background noise is grainy, and it’s range often drops out. Would love to trial this VTec monitor 🙂

  20. Mandyzp 27/11/2017 at 9:50 pm

My daughter Paige turned 1 this month. She has had a pretty bad winter and ended up in hospital 7 times. I have had lots of nights where I have had to sleep with her to monitor her breathing. I would love to trail ur vetch monitor. It would provide with lots of piece of mind where I can keep an eye on her from anywhere in the house.

  21. Karleen 27/11/2017 at 8:58 pm

My daughter is 8 months old and she is still sleeping in a cot in our room. This baby monitor would put my mind at ease and I would feel more confident putting our baby girl into her own room.

  22. EmmaColbert 27/11/2017 at 4:58 pm

My wee girl is almost 1 and I would LOVE to trial this amazing sounding product.
With the warmer weather now I am spending more time outside tending to the gardens and doing some diy around the house. This monitor would save me coming inside so often to check on her haha

  23. Rprasad 27/11/2017 at 4:57 pm

Love to trial this out. My son is going to be 5 months soon and im going back to work in January.

This will make be easier for grandma to help with monitoring our son when he is upstairs napping…also save her some trips going upstairs and downstairs.

  24. sassy121nz 24/11/2017 at 10:13 pm

Would love to be considered please. My son is 16 months old and has just been moved to a single bed due to issues in his cot. We live in a 2 storey house and our room is upstairs and some nights I struggle to hear him when he wakes.

Kia ora. Cotton death is in our family. I have lost one baby. Nearly lost a second. Finding the cause of him dying is the reason there are many babies alive that wudnt be if we hadn’t found the cause of him dying and it was possible to save him. I will be glad to x plain it to you and give the name of doc and specialists involved.
But it was the x ray guy the did Xtra x-rays that in the end found the cause.
My sister lost a baby. My nephew lost a baby. My daughter lost a baby.
We have a new baby. The father is my great nephew. The direct nephew of my nephew that lost his baby.
We have already had scares. My moko was in intensive care for the first two and a half weeks of his life.
Having this will take a lot of pressure off us. It will give us a better chance of keeping our moko alive.
My first moko that died was 2 years 3 months. We thought the danger was past.
My daughters lose happened so quick unexpected and there was no hospital close wen my daughter lost her baby. I wasn’t close to help.
What ever did it to them was not the collapsed stomach and twisted intestine. That was what my live son had and is now directly looked for wen babies die so they can be treated and live.
It’s reliant on us reviving him quick enuf til he grows out of it or we find his cause.
The lose of my daughters baby was this time last year.
If I am one of the lucky ones. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Actually even if we aren’t lucky enuf I thank you from the bottom of my heart as this give away is going to give everyone better chances of babies not dying. And that’s what’s real important. I hope part of the deal is baby resuscitation if needed.
    Nga mihi
    Janice Abraham
