One of the things you will notice about Wellington is its steep streets and sometimes ridiculously narrow roads where you wander how two cars could possibly pass.
Nairn Street is one of those crazy steep streets on the fringe of the city heading up to Brooklyn. Imagine William Wallis building this little house in 1892. At the time it was considered a large property and today would be put into the ‘tiny house’ category.
This attraction puts life into perspective, showing how three generations of the Wallis family lived, right up to the 70s with a small original TV playing It’s in the Bag in black & white.
We recommend taking in the Brooklyn Park with its awesome playground before nipping over to the very steep Nairn Street. There is street parking available or jump on the number 7 bus from downtown, but make sure your driver lets you off at the top, so you are walking down, unless you want a good workout! Tours start on the hour and you can book ahead.
