Tried this on both my boys and they complained that it was very thick and hard for them to apply easily. My children are independent when applying sunscreen as often I’m not there during sports days etc so it needs to be easy to apply. While it protected the skin well we probably wouldn’t buy it as the consistency was just too heavy.

Thank you for allowing my family to trial the new Banana Boat Sensitive Simply Protect SPF 50+ sunscreen.

For a natural zinc sunscreen its very easy to apply. No warming in your hands prior to applying and it doesn’t leave the skin with the ‘white’ look. A silky feeling while rubbing in and doesn’t take long to absorb.

So a very user family friendly sunscreen which isn’t harming our planet. Great product.

We had a lovely family weekend in Hanmer Springs. One of the days was 30 degrees and the place we were staying at had no shade. This day the sunscreen got a real test.

My duaghter has very pale skin, and sadly has the same genes as both parents that just burn in the sun.
She did come out of the day only slightly pink, but that would because I failed to put a last stint of sunblock on towards the end of the day.

Found the cream to be very thick, and not so easy to spread over the legs and arms. But otherwise it was fine.

My duaghter does have sensitive skin, and have found that 3 days on, her face and around her neck have shown signs of being dry, And a little sign of eczema on her cheek bone. Which I haven’t had with another brand of sunscreen that we use.

However on the other hand. I work in a carpark, and I used on my shift

We tried banaboat over a period of three weekends. The lotion is quite thick and left a white residue on the skin which disappeared after a while but it’s not oily and absorbs well into the skin. I found it provided really good protection when we went cycling. It does not become runny when you start to sweat. I also found the formula worked well with my daughter’s sensitive skin. Would use it again especially when going out and about on activities.

My family found the Banana Boat sensitive simply protect sunscreen rather thick to apply. This was very suitable for the face and neck area, but large areas like my boys legs, it was a bit too thick to generously apply all over. This sunscreen was non greasy which is good, and had a gentle scent. My son with eczema has had no dry patches or itchy skin while using this sensitive sunscreen and because of that, I’ll definitely be purchasing it again from the supermarket.
The size of the bottle was just perfect to be kept in my handbag or on the kitchen shelf, ready to be used.

    First impressions:
Packaging was good- even though the product was thick, it wasn’t too hard to get out of the tube like some brands
Consistency- thick but easily rubbed in clear without having to warm like some zinc based sunscreens
Feel- didn’t leave a greasy residue

No dramas applying this, pretty much clear as soon as you applied it and held up well in the water

In terms of protection, we weren’t out in the sun for a huge amount of time but no sunburn so good start!
    No skin reactions 🙂

Overall was impressed with this product 🙂

We received this product a few weeks ago and found it to be a really great product. I had noticed my son had started getting dry patches on his skin, which I can only assume was from our other sun screens and as soon as I started using this product they went away. I love that it has zink in and it was very easy to apply and it wasn’t greasy! My 3 yo found it very easy to apply along with my 5yo. It protected them well from the sun and I also used it myself while couching my daughters touch team and it didn’t make my pores feel blocked. Great product definitely recommend!

We received this product a couple of weeks ago and we’ve been using it consistently. Both children have eczema of different degrees and sensitive skin and we’ve been pleasantly surprised that it has exceeded expectations – no negative reactions to the product and it left the skin moisturised. It was easy to apply too. Thanks for letting us trial and review the product! We will definitely be buying this again.

We received our trial sunscreen this morning and what a great day too get it. The sun is shining and the boys have headed outside to play in the sun and water. We’ve put on the sunscreen. It’s thicker than normal sunscreen but that doesn’t affect application. A little goes a long way. Not greasy after application. The boys, 11 and 4, both found it easy to apply themselves. I’ll definitely be looking for it in the shops! No skin reactions, waterproof, and kept my boys safe in the sun. What more could I ask for?

We were lucky to receive the sunblock sample. We have a child allergic to sunblock and can only use zinc based and one with bad eczema so I was a bit worried how we would go. We LOVED the banana boat sensitive. It is thick but not as thick as other zinc based we have used and it spread in really well as others leave a thick white film on my kids. No reactions at all and mr 3 was happy to let me apply as he’s not always so willing. We have used this product for well over a week now and can’t recommend it enough. Will definitely be stocking up with this product this summer.

This Banana Boat sunscreen with zinc is great. I used it on myself and my son. We both have sensitive skin and have found that a lot of other sunscreens just don’t protect us even when we reapply and try to stay in the shade! We have had to revert to a zinc sunscreen for our faces particularly. Our current sunscreen leaves us looking like ghosts and the feel is gritty and weird. It’s not ideal but it works.

So I was very keen to try this new sunscreen from Banana Boat with zinc. Applying the sunscreen was so much more pleasant. It felt just like a normal sunscreen and there was no oily residue. It spread more easily and blended in to the skin so no more ghost impressions! Even though we were at an all day cricket match in blazing sun there was no sun damage and our skin didn’t react at all to the sunscreen – it felt like wearing no sunscreen. I’ve checked out the price as this is going to be our go-to sunscreen for the summer and it is slightly cheaper than the current zinc sunscreen we use so that’s a bonus.

Thanks Kidspot and Banana Boat for giving me the opportunity to try and review this sunscreen. Me and my boys liked it and now we are using it daily. I have spent a lot of money in trying various sunscreens but either me or the kids won’t like it due to some reactions on skin, or sometimes its too oily or too dry and sometimes too itchy for the skin. I am intentionally writing this review late because I wanted to try the product for some days and wanted to make sure I write what exactly I feel about the product. Firstly, the packaging is attractive and convenient to use. When I squeezed out first I thought it will be difficult to apply but I was wrong, as it will spread out to skin easily and the skin feels soft. We can notice the white layer initially but it will go off soon as the product will be absorbed to the skin. It does not cause itchiness so I am happy because my kids are not screaming and crying while the sunscreen application. Also, the best part is that it does not make our skin greasy and weird looking when we go out in sun. I can easily apply make up over it. So, basically I have ticked all boxes and we will be using the product in future too. Thanks.

We were lucky to receive the trial of the sunscreen. We all have sensitive skin, but there were no reactions/bumps/itchies to this product. We did find it a lot thicker than other sunscreens we’ve used, so that was a change for us. We found it did blend in well to the skin, but like zinc cream on a nappy rash, can take a little bit more rubbing to make it completely rubbed in, but once it was on it felt very light. I have added a before and after picture to show you can see where you’ve applied, but none of the normal greasy feeling.

I was a bit hesitant after the sunscreen results have come out over the past few weeks here in NZ, but we did not have any issues with anyone getting burnt. I have happily given the tube to miss 6 to keep in her schoolbag and feel safe with knowing that she will be very sun safe with this product.

This sunscreen is a good consistency, not too thick or thin. You can definitely see that it has a zinc component to it as it goes on quite thick on the skin but it absorbs easily. The formula also isn’t too greasy which I liked. The packaging itself is a good size for the handbag or glove box. We used the product in our Solar Buddies which is great for kids to apply their own sunscreen and for grown ups – less mess on the hands.

Protection wise, I used this myself on my arms and neck and I wasn’t burnt at all after all day in the sun and several applications. My skin is very pale and easily burns, so I was pleased with the results. It felt nice applying on the skin.

For the kids – the formula of this sunscreen unfortunately left both children with rashes, which surprised me as we’ve never had any problems with sunscreens developed for sensitive skin prior to this trial, and we’ve used other Banana Boat products on the whole family, with no issues. My oldest child has sensitive skin, often getting patches of eczema with products high in chemicals and fragrance, and I have a little girl who has no sensitivities with products at all – until now. My girls skin reaction was the worst of the two children – her cheeks in particular ended up very red, like they were sunburnt. We stopped using it immediately and just used an aloe gel on it, and it settled over a period of a few days but her skin was extremely dry as it healed. My oldest with the sensitivities had the rash (milder than my little girl) on his neck which is the only place I used it to, to make sure he didn’t react. None of the adults that used the product had these issues at all. I’d recommend patch testing before using on children particularly, or even yourselves if you’re sensitive to sunscreen or are unsure. Not the sunscreen for us unfortunately due to the reactions.

Missed out on receiving the product in time for our holiday but since receiving it we’ve had awesome weather in Auckland. The cream is nice and thick but does not feel greasy after application. It’s almost dry going on and spreads easily. When the kids gets out of the water you can see how it repels the water. I love that it is low odour and my little man gave me no trouble when I wanted to apply/re-apply. After spending a whole weekend in the sun my little guy has no sunburn. Our whole family tried it. My partner spent a whole day playing golf and wherever he applied the sunscreen he was fine. He missed his legs and lets just say he will put tomatoes to shame. On his shoulders you can also clearly see his finger marks where he applied it. All in all I’m really happy with the product and will most certainly buy it.

I am a solo mum of 2 gorgeous girls, aged 5 & 8 years old. All 3 of us have extremely sensitive skin with lots of things effecting us such as washing powders for clothes, soaps & shampoos and metal irritations. It even goes as far as the rivets or buttons on jeans causing flare ups and rashes. My oldest and I both have a very pale skin tone so unfortunately for us there is no tanning it’s either our beautiful fair skin or lobster sun burnt red. I would love to trial the new product, Banana Boat Simply Protect Sensitive – with naturally sourced Zinc, as it sounds like it could be a perfect match for us. I also have 4 wee adorable nieces and nephews who suffer rather badly from Eczema and would love to try this product on them also to see if it can help my sisters summer sun screen skin battle too.
    Thank you for the opportunity
    Kirsty

Would love to try these as I have flatmates who have kids, and we have already started doing weekend picnics and beach trips. And most of us love beach volleyball. It would be perfect for us

  18. Katecarlyle1980 03/11/2019 at 8:30 pm

I would love to try this. We’ve always used the same sunscreen but my youngest daughter recently reacted to it so need to find something else. We’ve previously loved banana boat so would love to see if this suits her skin. We spend hours outside over summer so need something reliable

  19. Livy1angel 03/11/2019 at 4:33 pm

I have two step children who have fair skin and burn very easily even with most sunblocks so would like to give this a try

  20. Emberruby 02/11/2019 at 10:50 am

We would love the opportunity to try this product, we are a family of four. My husband and 2 year old are quite sensitive to different products, and my daughter reacted to a sunscreen last year (which I think was the oxybenzone), so I would love to trial this sunscreen especially as it is suitable to sensitive skin, while still being a high SPF.

  21. Eloisec 01/11/2019 at 11:53 am

I am interested to see the effect of the zinc in the product. I use zinc ointment for skin rashes so it would be interesting to see how well the combo works for sensitive skin. We have a strict rule about always wearing sunscreen even if it’s raining. My 5 year old daughter loves the outdoors. Would love to give the product a try.

  22. rachlouise 01/11/2019 at 9:15 am

I would love to try this out on my daughter. Its been hard to find a sunscreen suitable for her sensitive skin and we take sun protection very seriously. Happy to post photos too

  23. Shannon1 31/10/2019 at 4:41 pm

My husband rashes up with most sunscreens, I have a 7 month old also whom I have not yet tried any sunblock products on. I hope to get a sensitive sunblock for both of them this summer.

  24. Sarahmacdee@hotmail.com 31/10/2019 at 2:36 pm

I woups love to give this a go! Been looking for a great sunscreen for summer for my 3 preschoolers and have been thinking about trying this to see if it suits my kids skin.

  25. Susanbsheldon 31/10/2019 at 2:11 pm

I would love to try this product on my 2 boys aged 2 and 4. They love to play outside!

  26. Mummtaytay 30/10/2019 at 11:04 pm

We would love to try 2/3 kids have very sensitive skin and find it very hard to find anything that works during summer!

  27. crank 30/10/2019 at 1:46 pm

This would be a great product for us to try. My eldest son has very fair skin and we have found that nothing protects his skin from the sun even when he reapplies every couple of hours, with the exception of a zinc product. It would be good to give another brand a go.

  28. Fetalbandmum 30/10/2019 at 10:08 am

I would LOVE the opportunity to try banana boat simply protect!
I have 3 boys and a almost 6mth old all have very pale sensitive skin I am super concerned about sunburn as we had a close family member die from melanoma and it is something I wouldn’t wish upon anyone
We end up trying numerous sunscreens due to sensitive skin etc and also I work outdoors as a landscape gardener so protection is important to us would love to be chosen

  29. Sharen.jane 29/10/2019 at 10:27 am

I would love to try this on my boys sensitive skin. We brought sunblock over the weekend and he had an reaction so this would be amazing to test on him.

  30. Kaylawood81 28/10/2019 at 11:49 am

I would love to try this on my family because I have a little boy who LOVES! The outdoors but got his fair skin from his mumma 😉. I also love the fact it has zinc in it!
