Starting your baby on solid foods is an exciting milestone in their development. All babies are different, so wait until your baby is showing a number of signs before starting them on solids. Your baby may seem hungry after breastfeeding or formula feeds and they may make chewing movements and reach out when seeing you eating.
Most babies start solids between 5 and 7 months of age. It is recommended by the Ministry of Health, Plunket and the World Health Organisation to wait until 6 months before starting your baby on solids.

Smooth and creamy. Easy to mix with both fruit and vegetables. Packaging great with the easy resealable top. Baby loved both flavours. Would definitely buy again.
My 7 month old tried the SunRice Baby Rice Cereal today for the first time and she loved it and ate every last drop! She prefers her foods to be more smooth so the texture was perfect for her as we have found some other brands aren’t smooth enough for her liking.
My son had the plain one as a base for the stew we ate for dinner and he ate it all.
He had the veggie one by itself and loved it, it’s great to see a veggie product as a lot of baby food is fruit based.
To make it a bit easier I’m going to add an old formula scoop to the bag so I know how much cereal to add (also easier if someone else is making her food for her, eg I can just say add 1 scoop or 2 with 50ml formula to get the right consistency). I love that it’s got no added sugars and has no artificial flavour but is a good source of iron to help her developing body.
The mixed vege flavour smells very pleasant, makes me want to eat it myself.
So easy to mix, lovey and smooth and so easy for baby to eat. Great to have the added iron. We will be using this SunRice Baby Rice Cereal again and again. It is good that it also comes in the vegetable variety, with carrots, sweet potato and pumpkin that is an easy way to introduce these vegies.
Usually with other brands he will only eat it with another flavour added but I love with this there was the choice for mixed veges and he loved it just as it was. This makes it so much more convenient when we are on the go as we don’t have to worry about taking something to add into it.
My 7 month old son absolutely loves his sun rice baby rice! We mix our with breast milk and he devours it every time! Thank you so much for this amazing product! We will be looking out for it at the supermarket!

I found this product to be very convenient for a quick breakfast. I opted to purée canned peaches and pour the rice cereal into it and mix it up making it into a thick breakfast. I found my boy didn’t like it plain as it’s quite bland so adding a bit of sweet fruit made it awesome!! He loves it. I also like the fact it’s a resealable bag so you don’t need to use it all in one go, which makes that very handy! I would recommend this product.

My wee man has just started solids and loves his baby rice for breakfast, Usually with other brands he will only eat it with another flavour added but I love with this there was the choice for mixed veges and he loved it just as it was. This makes it so much more convenient when we are on the go as we don’t have to worry about taking something to add into it. The serving size was also the perfect size and he ate it all, not wasting any. I did find that I needed to add more water then what the packet said as it was a little thick. Other than that, both the original and mixed vege was a win and we have already bought another packet.
We trialed this with our 9 month old. He loved it! I really liked that it came in vege flavour as I like to add rice cereal with dinner to get the carbs so extra veges with it never goes amiss

My daughter loves this cereal! We had it plain and with some purée. I wasn’t sure about the mixed vege one at the start but it smelt pleasant and my daughter ate all of it. Nice alternative to start introducing solids, the plain on was also gobbled up with some apple purée! Thanks 😊

Thank you for letting me trial SunRice Baby Rice Cereal in both the Original and the Mixed Vegetable flavor for my 7 month old.
The packing is nice and easy to open and great for sealing it back up following use. Instructions were clear however I’m not so sure for those mum’s that don’t bottle feed their kids, measuring 80ml of water to mix with a 1.5 tablespoons of the product could be a pain especially if you are in a hurry. The texture of the product was nice and smooth and would make an ideal start for introducing solids. My daughter unfortunately didn’t like the taste of either of the flavors presented (we’ve been offering this now for several weeks including even with some fruit etc) and has rejected the smooth consistency and prefers more of textured lumpy mix of other products and home made food at this stage based on her age most likely.
Nonetheless I still think SunRice Baby Rice Cereal provides a good start for babies on their solid journey as apposed to babies that are now ready for more of a lumpy texture in their food.
Well we have a winner. Mr nephew loved this, both the plain and the mixed vege. I would highly recommend for someone starting on solids

My son is 9 months old and his favourite is the mixed veggie pack. The texture is smooth and the content smells yum too. I am glad he is enjoying it as it is a good source of nutrition to promote his growth and well-being. We normally mix it with his purees and this morning, he had it with hard-boiled egg yolk. Absolutely delicious!
Our wee cherub Harlowe, Miss 6 month old, really enjoyed trying out these awesome SunRice baby rice cereals. She enjoyed the taste of the mixed vegetable but we think Original was the biggest hit with her, especially with a little puréed Apple or banana too. Love that there was no added sugar or artificial colours or flavours…and it had the added iron.
Loved the packaging and the Koala was a hit with her older brother and sister who wanted to try some too. Very convenient , easy to follow instructions, and that easy resealable packaging is fantastic.!! So it would be safe to say this was a hit with Harlowe.
Thanks for letting us try the sunrice baby rice cereal. My 5 month old started the original one as his first solid food mixed with formula – he absolutely loved it.
I also tried the mixed vegetable one, I mixed it with both homemade pureed chicken and also with formula, bubba loves it eveytime. And I like the perfect smooth consistency of the final product.
I’ve tried other baby rice products in the past with my older children and have not had such smooth consistency. This is perfect and I’d highly recommend as first food.
We were lucky enough to try this and my boy loves it we added the plain one to his 4month+ food to make it abit thicker to prepare him for 6month plus and he couldn’t get enough of it the vege one he eats on its own and gets fussy if you don’t hurry with the next spoon full its definitely something we will continue to buy for him

SunRice baby rice proved to be a great place to start as it mixed to a very smooth texture and I didn’t have to worry about this being too lumpy for him.

I was lucky enough to be chosen to review this for my nearly 6 month old girl.
We have only just started solids and she has been a bit hit and miss with it so far, so was interested to see how she would go.
I loved the how when you add the water to it that it turns into a lovely smooth silky consistency.
Instructions were super clear on how to make it up.
The mixed vegetable smelt nice and tasted like it smelt (which often with baby foods is not the case)
She was a fan of both, but like the original mixed with some puréed apple.
Will def be using for breakfast.
My son really love this rice cereal.. he is fussy eater but love to eat this as it is very smooth texture.
We were lucky enough to be sent some Baby Rice Cereal for Lily as she ventured into a new chapter of solids! 6 months on the dot, we tried the original flavor. The package itself is easy to open with a zip lock to ensure it stays fresh for longer. Making up the rice cereal was a breeze as we added the written dosage of rice with some of her formula. Excitingly we spooned some and into Lily’s mouth it went straight away. Her hangry facials started appearing and so we had to quickly scoop up another spoonful. From the amounts of spoonfuls she had on her first go, she seemed to thoroughly enjoy it! As a first time mum, I thought this was a great way to introduce the texture of solids but with a familiar taste of her formula! I would highly recommend this product to begin your solids journey as it’s a great transition for baby.

My baby is 18months old but he loves his cereal for breakfast. I find it hard sometimes trying him on new breakfast foods so I’d like to give this a go!
We are going to start solids shortly as we are nearly 5 months and this baby rice would be a perfect way to start out and give him a new texture and a convenient sized packet so you could try it a few times in order to get their taste buds used to it.
