Ingredients
¼ cup maple syrup
(60ml)
½ cup water
(125ml)
1 tsp natural vanilla extract
or 1 vanilla pod, seeds scraped out
2 pears
(any kind), peeled, quartered, cored and cut into bite-size pieces

- 1 medium saucepan
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, mix the water, maple syrup and vanilla extract together over a medium heat. Stir consistently and bring to the boil. Then turn the heat down to low and simmer.
- Add the pear pieces and gently return to the boil. Then simmer again for 15 minutes or until pears are cooked through.
- Serve immediately, or store in an airtight jar or container in the fridge for up to five days.
