Pool noodle balloon tennis

Pool noodle balloon tennis

Pool noodles aren't just fun in the pool, you can create all sorts of fun outdoor games and party games for kids with some pool noodles. Try this fun balloon game with a pool noodle hoop.

What you need:

  • 4 pool noodles
  • duct tape
  • 2 empty toilet rolls
  • 2 x 1m high garden stakes
  • 2 bamboo skewers
  • 1 balloon

Number of players:
2

Activity:

To make your hoop: Cut one toilet roll along its length, roll it into a smaller piece that will fit inside the hollow of a pool noodle. Place the rolled up toilet roll into one end of a pool noodle, with half sticking out. Use it to attach another pool noodle end to end. Secure the join with duct tape. Curve the other ends of the pool noodles to form a circle, secure that end with a toilet roll and duct tape.

To make the posts: Hammer your garden stakes into the ground at a width that will accommodate your hoop. Slide one pool noodle over each post.

Now place the pool noodle hoop you made in between the two posts. Poke a bamboo skewer through like a bolt to attach the hoop to the post on either side.

Blow up a balloon. Use the balloon to play pool noodle tennis, sending the balloon through the hoop. The aim of the game is to keep the balloon off the ground and send it back through the hoop each time.

Hints and tips:

  • If you can't get the hoop thing happening, just use a half a pool noodle straight across as a bar/net.
  • You could also use a ball: throw and catch it through the hoop or play volley ball.
