Make your own no-sew T-shirt book bag

Everyone has the "old faithful" T-shirt that they don't wear but don't want to see go. Here is the perfect solution to keeping it around and making it useful. Breathe new life into your T-shirt and follow these simple steps to creating your very own book bag without having to touch a sewing machine!

What you need:

• an old T-shirt
• scissors

Step 1. Take your T-shirt and chop the sleeves right off. Also cut out the seam that runs along the top of the shoulder to the collar, making the whole top of the T-shirt open. 

Step 2. Cut the binding off the collar, making it more square around the neckline.

Step 3. Along the bottom of the T-shirt, cut into the material all around T-shirt about 4-5cm up towards the top to create a fringe. The length of the cuts would depend on the size of your T-shirt.

Step 4. Once cut, tie the front and back fringes together using double knots. Make sure these knots are tight as this will form the bottom of your bag.

Step 5. Tie the front and back open shoulders (from step 1) together creating your handles.

Step 6. There you have it, a personalised book bag for school, when you go to your local library or to show off your favourite books at the book week parade!
