I can not help but go a little reindeer mad at this time of the year. As soon as the Christmas decorations come out, my eyes are peeled for reindeer everywhere. These reindeer chocolates are so cute and easy to make. Yet they are sure to bring a big grin of delight when received. My own kids couldn’t believe their luck this week as I was experimenting in the kitchen.
Ingredients for Christmas reindeer chocolates
- A bar of milk chocolate – use your favourite brand
- A packet of Jaffas
- Wilton’s Candy Eyeballs or mini M&Ms
- Pretzels
- Baking Paper
Recipe
In a clean and dry bowl, melt the chocolate. You can do this in the microwave on high for approximately one minute at a time. I don’t currently have a microwave, so I filled a large bowl with boiling water and then floated a smaller bowl in the water and added the chocolate into the smaller bowl. This melted the chocolate just fine. You do need to watch that no water gets into the melted chocolate while using this melting method, otherwise the chocolate will go crumbly.
I cut out some small squares of baking paper, and prepared my pretzels by snapping them in half. I tried to cut them, but it just made a mess and crushed the edges. Snapping the pretzels gives you a pretty clean edge. Once I was ready to construct my reindeer, I spooned about a tablespoon’s worth of chocolate onto the baking paper in a circle shape. I popped a Jaffa onto the chocolate in the lower middle for the reindeer’s nose. I added two eyeballs as well. Then I added two pretzel antlers as well.
The chocolate can take a wee while to set If you are in a hurry, you can put them in the fridge to hurry them along. Just be aware that once you take the chocolate out of the fridge, they may “sweat” moisture as they come to room temperature.
I love making little reindeer treats at this time of the year. The reindeer chocolates are easy enough to assemble, that your kids could help you with them. You could make these chocolate reindeer and put them in a mason jar as a gift. These individual chocolates can also be added to a Christmas place setting for your Christmas dinner or Boxing Day celebrations. With a little writing icing you can add each guest’s initials or add personalised features.

These are soo cute!! And easy enough for my kids to do, what a great idea for the Christmas holidays!
these look so cute and easy to make – would be a great christmas present and to make with the kids.
Very cool and easy to make my kids love doing Christmas baking since it’s only once a year
Yes, these are so easy to assemble, and you don’t need an expensive mold. You don’t even need the candy eyeballs. Mini M&Ms will work just as well and be just as cute! Yesterday I was talking about my Christmas menu and my eldest who seemed less interested in these asked if they could be on the menu, so they were a hit all round!
Wowee so easy. And they look so cute. These could be cool to do when the kids are finished school. Wee family fun day baking. Very very cool idea
Oh I’d probably eat the chocolate before making the cookies hehe. These look great, they actually look like cute teddy bears too. I actually did see something similar on Facebook recently, a whole heap of Christmas cookies/tree decorations, I’m going to try and make some 🙂
Ooh yummy I’ve seen pictures of Christmas treats similar to this for some time now and wondered how to make them. My son and I have just started our Christmas baking this week so I will add a few items on to the grocery list so we can give them a go next week 🙂
