Easy-to-do growing experiments using damp cotton wool are the simplest way to start your kids on gardening activities. Try making these cute watercress eggheads – and when the cress is ready, add it to your egg sandwiches!
What you need:
- 1 x rinsed out empty eggshell (with just the top of his noggin gently cut off)
- 2 x googly craft eyes
- cotton wool
- watercress seeds
- textas or crayons
- an egg cup to stand your egghead in
Activity:
Watch the step-by-step video below to find out how to make a watercress egghead. (N.B. I made two so they could keep each other company.)
Start by giving your eggheads some personality. You can either draw on their faces or use some googly craft eyes.
Put cotton wool inside the empty eggshell. Dampen it with some water.
Sprinkle a generous amount of watercress seeds onto the cotton wool.
Place your egghead on a sunny windowsill and give him some water each day.
After about a week he should have a full head of cressy hair.
