So we all know the old way to learn how to read a compass. But this is much more fun than telling the kids to "Never Eat Soggy Weeties" – surely! Bake the best learning tool you can get with this cool compass cake – then eat it!

What you need:

Create your chocolate sponge cake and decorate it with your favourite coloured icing and frosting recipe.

Starting at the top and working around your cake, create a compass. You can do this with the buttercream icing in an opposite colour to the cake top. See images for compass example.

For older children, you can add NE, SE, SW and NW between the main compass points.
