Oreo poke cake

This delicious dessert has a layer of relish chocolate cake that you poke holes in, pour vanilla pudding mix into, then sprinkle with crushed Oreos and refrigerate. It's like a giant creamy Oreo cookie.

Ingredients

  • 1 package Betty Crocker Devil's Food Cake Mix

  • 3 eggs

  • ⅓ cup butter

    melted (approx. 80g)

  • ¾ cup milk

    for the cake (180ml)

  • 5.5 cups milk

    for the pudding (1.375L)

  • 2 instant pudding mix, vanilla flavour

    100g packets

  • 1 Oreo biscuits

    150g, crushed

Equipment

  • 1 20cm x 30 cm baking dish
  • 1 Mixer
  • 1 Oven
  • 1 Wooden spoon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (180°C fan-forced) and grease and flour a 20cm x 30 cm baking dish. Using a mixer, prepare the cake mix with the eggs, milk and butter according to the directions. Pour into the baking dish and bake for 50 minutes. Remove from oven.
  2. Poke holes all over the surface of the cake using the handle of a wooden spoon.
  3. Prepare the pudding as per the packet directions but using 5 1/2 cups of milk instead. Pour the pudding mixture into the holes in the cake and over the top of the cake.
  4. Sprinkle crushed Oreos over the top of the pudding mixture and refrigerate for 2 hours.

Notes

Tip
I put the Oreo's into a resealable bag to crush them. It makes less mess.
Tip
The brand of pudding mix in this recipe was Cottee's. Don't be concerned if the mixture is quite thin to begin with because it needs to be poured into the holes in the cake.
Storage
Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
