Peas and bacon

A tasty side dish that goes well with roasts and sausages and it's super simple to make. Steaming the peas keeps nutrients in and takes a lot less time to cook.

Ingredients

  • 1kg frozen or fresh peas

  • 300g shortcut bacon

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tbsp butter

Equipment

  • 1 lidded frypan
  • 1 bowl

Instructions

  1. In a lidded frypan, heat olive oil and fry bacon for 3 minutes.
  2. Add peas and toss.
  3. Place lid on and steam for 4 mins stirring occasionally. Serve in a bowl with the butter on top.

Notes

Tip
These are a yummy side dish to serve with your favourite roast or bangers and mash.
Tip
The saltiness of the bacon compliments the peas so make sure you just sprinkle with pepper when seasoning.
