At 12.51pm on the 22nd of February 2011, Christchurch, New Zealand's second largest city, was hit by a devastating 6.3 magnitude earthquake that resulted in the loss of 185 lives and forever changed the lives of so many more.

On November 14th 2016, central New Zealand was rocked by a 7.8 quake near Kaikoura and Waiau.
