Bread and butter pudding

Bread and butter pudding is a classic baked dessert that's perfect on a wintery night. This version uses condensed milk and a french bread stick to give a wonderful creamy yet crunchy texture.

Ingredients

  • 1 small French bread stick

    cut into 8 slices

  • 30g butter

  • ½ cup sultanas

  • ¾ cup Sweetened Condensed Milk

  • 3 eggs

  • 1 cup cream

  • 2 vanilla

  • 1 shallow ovenproof dish
  • 1 whisk
  • 1 oven

Instructions

  1. Spread one side of the bread slices with butter. Place them buttered side up in a shallow ovenproof dish and sprinkle with sultanas.
  2. Combine the remaining ingredients and whisk well.
  3. Pour the custard mixture over the bread.
  4. Bake until set.
  5. If desired, dust with sifted icing sugar before serving.
