Caramel sauce

This is a quick caramel sauce that is great over ice cream, with sliced fruit or use it instead of icing on a cake

Ingredients

  • 2 cups brown sugar

    firmly packed

  • 1¼ cups thickened cream

  • 100g butter

    cubed

  • 1 tsp vanilla essence

  • 1 medium saucepan

Instructions

  1. Combine the sugar, cream, butter and vanilla essence in a medium saucepan.
  2. Stir over low heat until butter melts and the mixture is combined.
