Carrot and swede puree

Carrots are a great first food, but to add a little extra taste and nutrients, pair it with swede.

Ingredients

  • 1 carrot

    peeled and chopped

  • 1/2 swede

    peeled and chopped

Equipment

  • 1 Pot
  • 1 Microwave-safe container
  • 1 Cling wrap
  • 1 Blender
  • 1 Peeler
  • 1 Knife

Instructions

  1. Peel and chop the carrot and swede.
  2. To boil: Place the vegetables in a pot of boiling water. Boil for around 10 minutes, or until soft.
  3. To microwave: Place the vegetables in a microwave-safe container. Place cling wrap over the top, leaving a corner uncovered to vent steam. Cook on HIGH for around 4 minutes or until vegetables are soft.
  4. If you boiled the vegetables, strain and reserve some of the water.
  5. Puree in a blender until smooth, adding a little of the reserved cooking water (if boiled) or fresh water to make it a nice consistency.

Notes

Tip
Carrots are great first foods for babies but when they are pureed, they can become a bit thin and lumpy. By adding the swede, you’ll be able to puree this combo to a delicious creamy consistency your baby will find easy to eat.
Storage
This puree can be frozen for up to 6 weeks.
