Cheesy Vegemite pastry twists

A great snack or lunchbox filler that is easy for the kids to make you can also freeze them and pull them out when needed.

Ingredients

  • 1 frozen puff pastry

  • 1 tbsp butter

  • 1 tbsp Vegemite

    or to taste!

  • 1 cup tasty cheese

    grated

  • 1 plain flour

  • 1 tbsp milk

  • 1 baking tray
  • 1 baking paper
  • 1 rolling pin

Instructions

  1. Place pastry sheet on bench to defrost.
  2. Preheat oven to 180C. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
  3. Spread pastry sheet with butter, Vegemite and then sprinkle with cheese.
  4. Fold the bottom edge of the pastry over to encase the ingredients, sprinkle with some plain flour and use a rolling pin to roll out to original pastry sheet size.
  5. Cut into 12 strips and twist 2-3 times.
  6. Place on baking tray, brush with milk (or lightly beaten egg) and bake for 10 minutes or until golden and crisp.
  7. Serve warm or cold.

Variation
You can use a lightly beaten egg instead of milk to brush the pastry before baking.
