Homemade baby cereal

Rice cereal is the best first cereal to introduce to your baby when you first begin offering solid food. But once you are ready to expand the offering, try this easy baby-friendly version of porridge. Tasty, easy and nutritious.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup rolled oats

  • 1¼ cups water

Instructions

  1. Put the water in a pot, then add the oats.
  2. Bring the liquid close to a boil while stirring.
  3. Turn the heat off, cover the pot and let the oatmeal cook in its own steam till soft.
  4. Flavor the oatmeal with a little expressed breast milk or formula, if desired.
  5. Be sure oatmeal is not too hot when served.
