Introducing the new Bargain Box Veggie!

Family food box favourites, My Food Bag, have just launched a Bargain Box Veggie option! That’s great news for those of us who are choosing meat-free meals – and for those of us who would like to expand our veggie meals repertoire!

Even better news – new Bargain Box Veggie is the cheapest meal-kit in the My Food Bag family.

Family favourite recipes at bargain prices

The Bargain Box kitchen team have created meals that include plenty of veggies, easy-to-follow instructions and tastes the whole family will love. The recipes feature a variety of vegetarian protein sources including eggs, dairy, legumes, and nuts/seeds. A typical three-meal week will have one recipe with bread or pasta, once recipe with potatoes or kumara and one recipe with rice or couscous – however this will vary week to week and recipe to recipe.

Like all My Food Bag products, Bargain Box Veggie is crammed with local seasonal produce. Ninety eight per cent of the fresh ingredients are sourced in New Zealand, with My Food Bag supporting more than 100 big and small suppliers across the country,

Recipes are simple enough that they can be whipped up in a flash at the end of a busy day, or organise your teens to cook once a week – you’ll get the night off and they’ll learn essential life skills. Designed to help families enjoy more time together in the kitchen and around the table, Bargain Box Veggie takes the stress out of making delicious and nutritious vegetarian meals at an affordable price.

Bargain Box Veggie options

Bargain Box Veggie is available for three nights per week and comes in two sizes:

  • Serves 2: Great for a couple, or two adults with a young child, or

Oh wow we would love to try this! We’ve been trying to think of new ways to get more veggies in to our daughter but none of our recipes seem to cut it. It’s also hard to try and find quick and healthy meals for when we’re tired during the week so would be really interested in giving this a test run to see if it could become a permanent change in our home. The Nasi Goreng on their website looks delish too!

    Serves 2 please

    Thanks Kidspot.

It would be brilliant for us to trial this bargain box (serves 2) especially with our 4 months old child who constantly loves our attention thus quick and simple meals are our current go to. We also have a super active 3 years old who loves to be in the kitchen and ‘help’ me cook and I heard the recipes and instructions are easy to follow and great to get the kids involved and teach them all about food. The Vege bargain box will be even more beneficial as little 3 years old get to cook and eat all the vegetable dishes that she helped prepare

Sounds great. We’d love to try:
      A. Serves 2.
      B. Because Id like to be able to convince the other half that we can introduce some more plant based meals into our diet and its not necessary to have meat with every meal!

i would love to try the serves 4 option to try please. being a busy household with 4 children having a mix of different disorders/medical conditions (sensory processing disorder, autism, adhd, anxiety, dyslexia, dysgrapia, odd, kidney and bladder issues/incontinence) and having 1 of those children home schooled (all 4 have been for past 3mths, but 1 of those for the past 2+ years) as well as me having my own health issues and studying it makes it really hard to come up with new meals, especially ones my children will eat- i grew up with a mum who only made food that came frozen or out tin/package so i didnt grew up learning to cook/plan fresh meals and being busy it makes it hard to find and follow new recipes and cost of food makes it harder especially if my children won’t tollerate it due to sensory issues so i tend to stick with the same food which gets boring/plain. so i’d love the change to win a pack so i can try some vegies and new recipes for us all and to hopefully get my kids to help me make/cook and then get them interested in eating/trying new foods. thank you.

I would love the chance to trial Bargain Box Vege (Serves 4) please. I am always looking for new ways to include vegetables in our meals that my 12-year-old son will love. He is eating so much more now as is on a growth spurt, so I am looking into ways to fill him up with healthy, nutritious meals. We are also wanting to cut back on our meat consumption but are so used to meals with meat that we need some help and inspiration!
I also live with Cerebral Palsy and chronic pain, so I am always looking for hassle-free options that are easy to prepare, which will be welcomed by my family. As someone who is unable to drive, options that offer delivery are high on my list. Thanks for the opportunity. 🙂

My fam bam would love to be a part of this trial. I’ve recently tried to balance our diets with at least one or two meals during the week being vege only so we get more vitamins and minerals and antioxidants etc. We would love to trial the serves 2 or 4 as there are three of us and it will be interesting to see the serving sizes etc.
      Thanks

We would love to try the meals for 4, 2 adults and 2 kids. Trying to broaden our recipe range, and as always, finding the time to organize dinner from scratch is a mission. Always open to new recipes!

    12 June, 2020

Yes please I would love to give the serves four one a go. I have a three year old who will not eat meat but is good at eating veges but as my husband, myself and our 6yr old and 8mth old are all meat eaters I base our meals around meat. I’d love this to give me some inspiration for meals that our 3 year old will enjoy and take away the boredom of what I currently give him. Added bonus the inspiration can help the rest of us cut down on our meat consumption.

Would love to try a ‘serves four’ Bargain Box Veggie. We aren’t very good at serving vegetarian meals but do need to cut down on our meat intake, not just for our wallets! This would be amazing as it will help us learn what meals we as a family might eat as well as learn how to actually cook with no meat. It would be fantastic for my teenager as well to be able to independently make one of these meals and so learn invaluable life skills for the future. Thanks for the opportunity 🙂

Would love serves 4 for my family. I would love to trial this as in principle I would like to be vegetarian as my daughter and I love animals but I have basic cooking skills and need to learn what and how I can use plant foods to make tasty and nutritious meals!

We would love to try the Serves 4 (option B) pack. We have looked at trying the Bargain Box but not knowing what it was like and whether it was worth the money so this would be a great way to try before buying.
Would be great to try some new recipes.and get some.healthy meals into my husband.and.kids. my husband has had a stroke and would be great for giving him healthy meals. My eldest does lots of training for Karate and would be great for her before training and also to have leftovers in her lunch box as she is not.keen on sandwiches.
My other two girls just need to eat more veges and I would.love some healthy.meals as it is not easy living with a stroke recovery patient.

Have been considering getting this so would be awesome to actually try first. I would love the “serves 4 option” pls. We live very busy lives with all the after school activities, and while we have been better behaved since lockdown with dinners I can see the potential of reverting to our old ways occuring, once in a while especially next term (term 3 always cray cray) so something like this would keep us on track

Would love to try serves 4 please. Would love to try as I’m looking for meat free alternatives and have no idea where to start. This would at the very least give me a starting point. Thank you.

      12 June, 2020

Wow! We’d really appreciate to try the box for 4. My daughters are not too keen on meat, but not vegetarians. My eldest daughter would love to go meat free, but I have no idea and no experience in cooking vegetarian! I wouldn’t know where to begin! This would be a great tester for our family to see if we would enjoy this lifestyle. It would be a lovely opportunity for us. Thanks so much. 💕

We would be thrilled to try a vege box! We are a vege loving family who aim to have two non-meat meals each week. Although I love to experiment with food, at times I am at a loss as to what to cook..especially when we are skipping the meat. My daughter loves her vegetables, I would really love to expand her palate of this food group.
      Serves 2 would be fantastic!
      Thankyou

I would love to trial the serve 4 (family of 2 adults and 2 kids)
I have always wanted to try bargain box but often the meat meals don’t suit what the family will eat & I hate wasting food. So excited to hear about the veggie box as we eat alot of veggies in our house as well as lentils, beans etc & love that it gives the option to add in meat if we feel like it.

I would love to try this foodbox for 4, I am solo mum with 4 kids. We have tried Bargain box meat boxes before, but alot was wasted because my kids are not very keen meat eaters. Both myself and one of my children has low B12 levels and Iron from not eating enough meat. We are trying to change to healthier eating habits as recommended by my child’s pediatrician. These meals will be a great inspiration for us to start our journey to eat healthier but less meat.

This would be such an amazing opportunity and privilege to be a part of. I would love to try the serves 4 box if I was successful. We are currently trying to change our diets by removing sugar and adding in more healthy options. WIth two young growing boys we want to set a really good example for them.
