Spicy crab cob dip

If you want a lighter version you can use low fat cream cheese and substitute sweet chilli sauce in place of tabasco in this moreish spicy crab cob dip sure to have you going back for more than you ought to.

Ingredients

  • 250g cream cheese

    room temperature

  • 1 small onion

    minced

  • 6 tbsp Tabasco

  • 2 crab meat

    drained

  • 1 cob loaf

  • flaked almonds

Equipment

  • 1 oven
  • 1 baking tray
  • 1 mixing bowl

Instructions

  1. Pre-heat oven to 180°C or 160°C fan forced.
  2. Mix cream cheese, onion, Tabasco and crab meat together.
  3. Slice off top of cob and hollow inside, reserving chunks of bread.
  4. Pour crab mixture into hollowed-out cob. Sprinkle with flaked almonds.
  5. Place on baking tray with reserved bread chunks.
  6. Bake until almonds and chunks of bread are golden. Serve.

Notes

Tip
If you want a healthier dip, use low fat cream cheese instead.
Tip
In place of tabasco, you can substitute sweet chilli sauce.
