Paleo honey chicken drumsticks
Ingredients
- 8 organic free range chicken drumsticks
- 1 tbsp raw organic honey
- 1/4 cup coconut aminos (soy sauce alternative)
- 2 tbsp coconut oil
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tsp coriander root, finely chopped
- 1 small knob ginger, grated
- 1 tbsp water
- 1 tsp sesame seeds
Method
Make a few small cuts into the drumsticks through the thickest part.
Combine honey, coconut aminos, coconut oil, garlic and cinnamon in a large bowl.
Add chicken pieces, coriander root, ginger and water to the bowl. Cover and refrigerate for 2-3 hours min (overnight is preferable).
Preheat oven to 220°C (200°C fan-forced). Place chicken pieces on a rack greased with coconut oil over a large baking dish.
Spoon any excess marinade over the chicken and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Roast for about 30 minutes or until chicken is cooked through. Serve with cauliflower rice or salad.

- Coconut aminos are a soy sauce substitute. You will be able to find coconut aminos in good healthfood stores.
- Making cuts into the drumsticks in this recipe helps them to cook faster and more thoroughly.
- Make sure that you throw away any marinade that the raw chicken has been marinating in. It is a food poisoning risk.
