Sushi Rice

To make great sushi you need to make the real sushi rice this is a easy fail safe recipe

Ingredients

  • 3 cups rice

    uncooked

  • 3 cups water

  • ½ cup Japanese rice vinegar

  • ½ cup sugar

  • 1 tsp salt

Equipment

  • 1 rice cooker
  • 1 saucepan
  • 1 mixing bowl

Instructions

  1. Wash rice and rinse well. Add 3 cups water and cook in rice cooker.
  2. To cook on stove, bring rice to a boil in a covered saucepan. Simmer for 15 minutes.
  3. Remove pan from stove and let sit for another 10-15 minutes
  4. Mix together vinegar, sugar, and salt, and cook over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Cool.
  5. Place cooked rice in a large mixing bowl
  6. Sprinkle half of the vinegar sauce over the hot rice; mix gently
  7. Taste. Add more vinegar sauce if desired.
