Pumpkin and potato mash

This is a lovely smooth puree that your baby will be gobbling up in no time! Try and use butternut pumpkin if you can because it is a sweeter, creamier-tasting pumpkin and great for babies

Ingredients

  • 1 small butternut pumpkin

  • 1 large potato

Equipment

  • 1 Pot
  • 1 Strainer
  • 1 Potato masher
  • 1 Microwave-safe container
  • 1 Cling wrap
  • 1 Blender or food processor

Instructions

  1. Peel and chop the vegetables.
  2. To cook on the stovetop: Add the vegetables to boiling water and cook until soft, around 10 minutes.
  3. Alternatively, to cook in the microwave: Place the vegetables in a microwave-safe container. Cover with cling wrap, leaving one corner uncovered to allow steam to escape. Cook on HIGH for 5 minutes and check to see if veggies are soft.
  4. Once cooked, strain the vegetables, reserving a little of the water if you used the boiling method.
  5. Mash finely with a little of the reserved water (or fresh water) until smooth.

Notes

Tip
For a finer mash, puree in a blender or food processor.
Storage
This puree can be frozen for up to six weeks.
