Christchurch bucket list
- Burn off some energy and enjoy a day of family fun at the Margaret Mahy Playground. Make sure to get your ride on the flying fox!
- Make your way to Oxford Terrace and go eel spotting at the Avon River! Enjoy sitting on the steps and admire the native longfin eels as they glide along the river.
- For a more active adventure, enjoy the challenge of the uphill walking trail at Christchurch Adventure Park. Enjoy the beautiful views and enjoy a free scenic chairlift ride back down the mountain as a fun reward.
- Head to Gloucester Street and check out the Canterbury pop-up museum, while the main museum undergoes a grand makeover! This event offers a mix of permanent and ever-changing temporary displays that keep Canterbury history alive!

- Check out one of the clearest freshwater springs in the world and see the spectacular colours of the Te Waikoropupū Springs. Enjoy a short loop walk through the mānuka and kānuka forests to the viewing platform to see this world-renowned crystal clear spring.
- Pack a picnic and make your way to the Queens Gardens in Nelson City, a reflection of the classical Victorian era in which these grounds were developed. Get your photo at the Cupid Fountain, melodic water wheel, and enjoy the colourful rose gardens.
- Take a dip in the Motueka Saltwater Baths on the Motueka foreshore. Originally built after a shark sighting in the early 1920s, this enclosed foreshore offers a safe space to soak in the waters peacefully.
- Enjoy a more sensory experience at the Hawks Valley Sculpture Gallery. This outdoor sculpture garden encourages visitors to wander and touch a range of 30 stone and wood sculptures amongst the great outdoors.
