Make your own party poppers

Make your own party poppers

Sure you can buy party poppers at the discount store, but if you make them, you've also got a fun little craft activity for kids.

What you need:

  • 1 x balloon
  • 1 x 500ml water bottle (or similar)
  • coloured paper
  • hole punch
  • scissors
  • stanley knife
  • mini pom poms

Number of players:

Activity:

Cut the off neck of the bottle, you'll need a bread knife or stanely knife, so this step is for the adult.

Leave enough of a 'funnel' at the top to put your confetti in later.

Now remove the bottle's lid and place the balloon's opening over the neck of the bottle.

Get your child to make some confetti: punch holes in coloured paper and then empty the hole puncher into a small cup. You should get a mountain of small confetti circles.

Tip your confetti into the funnel part of the bottle, shake it down so it goes right into the balloon below.

Top it off with some mini pom poms (but don't force these into the balloon, leave them sitting in the top of the popper's funnel).

Pull the balloon back and snap it, it should send confetti and pom poms showering into the air.

Yes it's all fun and games until someone has to vacuum it all up.  But you had fun didn't you?
