Bircher muesli

Ingredients

  • 500g natural muesli
  • 2 green apples, peeled and grated
  • 2 pears, peeled and grated
  • 1 cup (125g) sultanas
  • 1 cup (125g) raisins
  • 1/2 cup (50g) flaked almonds
  • 1/2 cup (50g) walnuts
  • 1 cup (100g) macadamias
  • 1L milk
  • 300ml cream, whipped

Method

Combine all of the ingredients.

Refrigerate overnight.

Serve topped with your favourite fresh fruit.

Notes

  • This is the most decadent breakfast dish.
  • It has dairy, grains, nuts, dried fruit and fresh fruit.
  • Muesli was introduced around 1900 by the Swiss physician Maximilian Bircher-Benner for patients in his hospital, where a diet rich in fresh fruit and vegetables was an essential part of therapy.
