Red Velvet smoothie

This velvety smoothie has all the nutritional benefits of beetroot, banana, and berries.

Ingredients

  • 1 large precooked beetroot

    or 2-3 small; you can use raw if you prefer

  • 1 ripe banana

    frozen, chopped into chunks (max 2cm)

  • 1 tbsp cocoa

    ideally dutch/dark cocoa

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • ½ cup frozen berries

    blueberries work well

  • 1 cup milk

    of your choice

Equipment

  • 1 Food Processor
  • 1 Blender

Instructions

  1. Put all the ingredients into the jug attachment on a Food Processor and blitz until smooth, or pop all the ingredients into a jug and blend together with a stick blender until smooth.

Notes

Variation
You can use raw beetroot instead of precooked.
Variation
Blueberries work well, but other frozen berries can be substituted.
Variation
Use any milk of your choice, such as dairy, almond, or oat milk.
Storage
This smoothie is best enjoyed immediately after blending.

    What a delicious idea. Miss 4 loves beetroot (not sure how coz I hate it hahaha) so I’m sure she would love this.
