You don’t need to buy expensive play equipment to improve your child’s gross motor skills. All you need is a cubby!  Just set them the challenge of building tunnels and cubby houses out of the furniture you have.  A tunnel cubby provides hours of imaginative play.

What you need:

  • 6 x dining room chairs
  • 4 x blankets
  • 1 x coffee table

Note: There are no rules! Just create your tunnel cubby out of whatever you have available.

Create a tunnel framework by lining up the chairs and coffee table.

Throw some blankets over the top and voila! Tunnel.

Notes

  • It’s most exciting and challenging when you create a tunnel from one room to another.
  • You can also add torches to make the game really exciting and adventurous.
