Make a pop-up paper town hall

Make a pop-up paper town hall

Creating a three dimensional shape from a flat piece of paper is a great way to teach your child about shapes and volume. This pop-up paper town hall comes with a FREE printable that makes it an easy activity for kids: just add crayons, scissors and glue!

What you need:

  • 1 x FREE town hall printable template
  • 1 x A4 sheet of thick paper (210gsm is ideal as it will still go through the printer)
  • scissors
  • glue
  • paints, textas or crayons

Optional extra:

Number of players:
1

Activity:

Watch the video below to see a whole village of pop-up buildings come to life!

Print out your town hall printable template. There are two separate bits on the one page: one is the clock tower, the other is the main building.  You will have to construct each one and then stick the clock tower to the building.

Colour in and decorate your town hall facade. Use your imagination or use the accessories printable to cut out a clock, doors and windows.

Construct each piece: the clock tower and the building.  Fold on all the dotted lines and then put glue on the tabs. Once both sections are dry and robust, stick the clock tower to the building (see our how-to video above for more detail).

If you enjoyed making the town hall, try making a whole pop-up paper village using all the FREE printables.

Hints and tips:

  • You can use scrapbooking paper to make a patterned village.
  • Lego bits work well with these pop-up apartments: just raid the Lego box to add trees, cars and people to your village.
  • Make lots of pop-up buildings, lay down a big sheet of butcher paper, draw in a road and create your own pop-up neighbourhood!

NOTE:

Pop-up paper village printables should be printed in the ‘portrait’ setting. If you have trouble printing, please check your printer settings.
