Pool noodle Pegasus

Pool noodle Pegasus

Make your very own magical flying horse out of a pool noodle and some craft supplies.  You can even add glitter, if you dare.

What you need:

  • 1 x pool noodle
  • 1 x rubber band
  • 1 x A4 sheet of foam board or felt
  • 50cm of ribbon
  • a pair of fairy wings ($5 from the discount shop)
  • black marker pen
  • scissors
  • hot glue gun

Number of players:

Activity:

Bend the pool noodle over at the top to form the horse's head.  Secure it in place using the rubber band.

Now add the reins; tie the ribbon around the horse's head (where the rubber band is) and then loop the reins into a circle and hot glue the ends together.

Cut the A4 sheet of foam board (or felt) into two strips. One should be about 10cm wide and run the length of the sheet. This will be the ears.  The other will be about 15cm wide and also run the length of the A4 sheet, this will be the horse's mane.

Take the 'ear' strip and cut points on each end to form the ears (see video)

Now take the 'mane' strip and cut wiggly lines down either side (see video) to create the horse's mane.

Thread the ear piece through the fold in the pool noodle (where the head bends down) and pull each ear up on either side. Glue the ears in place.

Now glue the mane to the back of the horse's head.

Tie the fairy wings onto the horse's body.

Draw on some eyes.

Giddy up! You are ready to go.
