Easy costume: Little Red Riding Hood

This Little Red Riding Hood costume is so easy you can make it in minutes! There's no sewing required because it's all about the cape and the basket of goodies for Grandma. A perfect last-minute Bookweek idea or Halloween costume.

What you need:

• 1 x piece of red cloth (approx 1.5m x 1.5m)
• 1 x red dress (or any dress really)
• 1 x large safety pin
• 1 x carry basket
• 1 x cake tin

Dress your little girl in red, if she has a red dress. If not, any dress will do. It's all about the cape really.

Plait her hair.

Fashion a cape out of the cloth by pinning it under the chin, with a little bit left over at the top to make a cape (see video).

Give her the carry basket.

Put the 'cake' in the carry basket.

She's ready to go to Grandma's (and meet the wolf, but don't worry, things turn out fine.)
