Paper plate cookie gift basket
If you like giving homemade bake goods as gifts, this DIY paper plate cookie basket is the perfect way to "gift" your cookies and treats.
What you need:
- 1 x paper plate
- stapler
- scissors
Number of players:
Activity:
Cut two parallel lines into the outer edge of the plate, on opposing sides of the plate, about 6cm apart (see video). The cut should only go to the inner circle edge of the plate.
Fold those two tabs upward, so they stand up vertically, these will be the sides of the basket.
Now fold four triangular tabs inward from the remaining flaps (see video).
Fold one half of the plate to the centre, to line up with the original cuts you made in the outer edge of the plate.
Fold the other half of the plate, the same way, to line up with the other cut line.
Stand each of these large flaps upright and tuck the triangular tabs you made earlier around the back of the two shorter sides of the basket (created with the two original cuts).
Staple each tab in place. You should now have a rectangular basket shape, with curved edges.
Hints and tips:
- Tie some ribbon around the centre of the basket to make it look fancy.
- Colour the plate with pencils, crayons or marker pens before you fold it into its basket shape.
