Up or down maths

Maths can be a troubling subject to grasp but by turning it into fun for kids, maths can become easy to learn! Up or down maths gives kids a 50/50 chance of getting the numbers correct. Call out numbers for fast paced action.

    What you need:

    • paper
    • pens or markers
    • a caller

    Number of players:
    3+

    Activity:

Give each child a piece of paper and a pen.

The caller should also have a piece of paper with 20 random numbers written down one side.

Place an arrow next to each number – either up or down.

Call out those numbers to the players in the game. For example, 35 – UP or 43 – DOWN.

The players are to write the correct answers on their pieces of paper. For example, 35 – UP would be 36 and 43 – DOWN would be 42.

At the end of the 20 numbers called, the player with the most correct answers wins.

Notes:  Having the caller’s sheet will make it easier to mark the correct answers at the end.
