Sticky honey drumsticks

Make these sweet and sticky drumsticks for the kids to have with rice and steamed veggies. They'll love eating with their fingers - just have plenty of napkins to wipe them down with afterwards!

Ingredients

  • 8 chicken drumsticks

  • 3 cloves garlic

    finely chopped

  • 2 tbsp ginger

    finely grated

  • 3 tbsp honey

  • 4 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

  • 1 non-metallic mixing bowl
  • 1 clingfilm
  • 1 baking dish

Instructions

  1. Whisk the ginger, garlic, honey, soy sauce and sesame oil together in a non-metallic mixing bowl or dish and add the drumsticks.
  2. Turn the chicken over in the marinade to ensure its well covered. Cover with clingfilm and marinate in the refrigerator for 1 to 4 hours.
  3. Preheat the oven to 200C.
  4. Place the drumsticks into a baking dish and pour over the remaining marinade. Roast for 15 minutes, remove to turn the chicken pieces and continue to roast another 15 minutes.
  5. Serve drizzled with the remaining pan juices over rice or alone.

Notes

Tip
These are almost better served cold for lunch!
Variation
You can use Kecap Manis, a thick, sweet Indonesian soy sauce, instead of regular soy sauce.
