Baked campfire apples

Baked campfire apples are fun to cook over the camp fire or in the oven

Ingredients

  • 6 green apples

  • 3 tbsp butter

    softened

  • 3 tbsp brown sugar

  • ¼ cup raisins

  • ¼ cup walnuts

    chopped

Equipment

  • 1 sharp knife
  • 1 aluminium foil

Instructions

  1. Core a hole in the top of the apple to fill with the mixture but leave the bottom intact.
  2. Mix the butter, brown sugar, walnuts and raisins together and fill the hole in each apple.
  3. Double wrap each apple with aluminium foil, making a mark on top so you know which way is up.
  4. Place on the coals for 20-25 mins. Take care when opening.

Notes

Tip
You need to leave bottoms intact so the filling doesn’t run out.
Tip
Get an adult to help you with the coreing as it requires a very sharp knife.
Variation
You can mix and match any dried fruits you have on hand. I have even done this with trail mix when it was all I had.
