Autumn leaf garland

Autumn leaf garland

Autumn leaves can provide many great Autumn craft activities for kids. Just go outside and collect a bagful then spend the afternoon making leafy art. Try this autumn leaf garland.

What you need:

  • a bag of autumn leaves
  • 4 x sheets of A4 paper cut in half
  • 8 x pieces of A4 scrapbooking paper
  • 3m of jute string or ribbon
  • crayons
  • glue
  • scissors
  • a hole punch

Number of players:
1

Activity:

Give your kids the pile of paper (cut in half to A5) and put them on the task of creating eight leaf rubbings of their best autumn leaf. Make sure they're nice and colourful.

Next use some nice patterned paper as a backdrop – you can get scrapbook paper in craft shops or at Officeworks. If you don't have any fancy patterned paper you could use colourful construction paper or just plain cardboard as a backing. The backing frame should be approximately 25cm x 18.5cm to give you a 2cm border around your A5 leaf rubbings.

Place the leaf rubbings onto their backing paper.

Use your hole punch to put a hole in each top corner of the frame.

Thread your jute string or ribbon through to create the garland.
