Bath fun for babies

Bath fun for babies

Water is an essential part of playing in early childhood. Introduce baby gently with this great activity that you can do at home in the bathtub or out at the swimming pool.

What you need:

  • Bath
  • Jug or cup

Number of players:
2+

Activity:

Sit baby in the bath.

Start to sing this song:
This is the way we wash our hands, wash our hands, wash our hands. This is the way we wash our hands, early in the morning.

As you sing about washing baby’s hands, pour water gently over the hands.

Continue singing:
This is the way we wash our feet, wash our feet, wash our feet. This is the way we wash our feet, early in the morning.

As you sing about washing baby’s feet, pour water gently over the feet.

Continue again:
This is the way we wash our hair, wash our hair, wash our hair. This is the way we wash our hair, early in the morning.

As you sing about washing baby’s hair, gently pour water over the hair. Be careful not to flood their face too much as this can put them off.

We know that repetition is a great teacher and by doing this activity on a regular basis, it will encourage baby to get their heads and faces wet and will set them in good stead for going under the water in later years.
