Bear paper bag puppet

Making your own puppets is a great way to get your child involved in simple imaginative play. This bear paper bag puppet is easy to make and can be varied slightly to make any other animal you like.

What you need:

  • A brown paper lunch bag
  • Pieces of brown construction paper
  • 2 x googly eyes
  • Stapler
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Markers and/or crayons

Number of players:
1+

Activity:

Turn the bag upside down so that the closed end becomes the top and the open end becomes the bottom.

Fold the closed end of the bag over so that there is about a 7cm flap.

Now fold in the corners of the flap diagonally (like you would fold in the edges to wrap a present.) It should create a trapezium shape which is the face

Staple the corners in place.

Cut out two brown ears and glue them onto the bag.

Draw a bear face onto the flap between the two ears.

Cut out two bear paws and glue them in place.

Put your hand inside the bag, curve your fingers over into the face. Now you can move the bear's face around when he talks.

Notes:

  • A small brown paper bag from a fancy gift shop is ideal for making paper bag puppets.
