Chinese New Year activities: make your own horse mask

This year, 2014, is the year of the Horse on the Chinese calendar. What better way to celebrate a New Year than with a dress-up party. Just download, print out, colour and cut out this horse mask and you're on your way to celebrating Chinese New Year.

What you need:

• printer and paper
• coloured markers
• scissors
• hole puncher
• thin elastic

Celebrate the year of the Horse by making this horse mask and having a horse-themed party.

Step 1. Print the mask and colour it in. Get creative and add some hair for the horse.

Step 2. Carefully cut the mask around the solid outer edge with scissors.

Step 3. Now cut the dotted lines around the eyes so you have eye holes.

Step 4. Using a hole puncher, make a hole at the two crosses at either side of the mask.

Step 5. Thread a length of elastic through one side and carefully tie a knot around the edge of the mask.

Step 6. Bring the elastic around the back and do the same on the other side.

You now have a mask for the Chinese New Year celebrations!

Notes:
You may want to measure the length of elastic while your child has the mask on so that it fits right.
