Extended picture

Try out an extension image with your own design or create a collage to extend. This cool craft project will have the kids playing with all kinds of art and different designs. Frame them or give them as a crafty gift.

What you need:

• white paper
• coloured paper
• scissors
• crayons and pencils
• glue

Activity:

Draw an illustration onto white paper.

Make sure you fill the page entirely with your image. Fill it in with a background and foreground to ensure it is a fully covered page.

Cut the page into strips, keeping them in order.

Glue each strip to coloured paper allowing a 2cm (or more) gap between each strip. This will create the illusion that the image is extended.

Notes:

• Alternatively make a collage (instead of a drawing), to cut and extend.
• Rearrange the order of cut strips of the original image to create an entirely new picture.
