Popsicle stick keepsake box

Mum has a load of little things laying about that you've collected for her – like that pebble from that holiday she swore she would NEVER lose! Keep Mum in check and make her a trinket box that she can fill with those goodies!

What you need:

• PVA glue
• popsicle sticks
• paints
• brushes
• muffin tray for paints (optional)
• embellishments (optional)

The box.

Step 1. Gather your supplies.

Step 2. Paint your popsicle sticks any colour or patterns that Mum will love. Remember, these sticks won't be seen from the top, only the colours will show.

Step 3. Lay out the 11 popsicle sticks side by side. Take 2 more popsicle sticks and cover one side in glue. Lay them at the top and bottom of the 11 sticks you have lined up, this will make your base.

Step 4. Add a dab of glue to the ends of the popsicle sticks and lay another 2 popsicle sticks the opposite way to the first layer. Continue buliding the box edges up, laying sticks opposite to the last layer until you have the height if the box that you need. 55 popsicle sticks will make a box 5cm in height. Let this dry.

The lid.

Step 1. Line 11 popsicle sticks up side by side as in step 1 of "The box".

Step 2. Take 2 more popsicle sticks and cover one side in glue. Lay them at the top and bottom of the 11 sticks you have lined up, but this time move them in from the edges one popsicle stick in width.

Step 3. Once dry, paint your lid as a whole piece. You could paint "Mum" on the top, add a heart or glue on some shapes.

Step 4. When both items are dry, you can pop the lid on your box and you have your Mothers' Day present all sorted out.
