Simple French onion potato bake

With only four ingredients to turn the humble spud into something truly delicious, this potato bake recipe has to be a winner. Layers of potato, onion and creamy make this hearty side which can easily be a main meal with the addition of a crisp, green salad.

Ingredients

  • 2kg potatoes

    peeled and sliced thinly

  • 4 brown onions

    peeled and sliced into rings

  • 1 French onion soup mix

  • 600ml pouring cream

Equipment

  • 1 large baking dish
  • 1 foil

Instructions

  1. In a large baking dish layer onions, potatoes and soup mix in that order until all ingredients are used ending with potatoes as the last layer.
  2. Pour cream evenly across the dish.
  3. Cover with foil and bake for 50mins at 180C.

Notes

Tip
Its also nice served with a nice salad for lunch
Variation
This recipe can also be made in the microwave oven. Just place the ingredients in a dish and cover. Microwave for 45-50 mins.
