Have fun in the summer sun with Banana Boat
Kiwis are very aware of the harmful effects of the sun but recent research* shows that we aren’t that great at keeping up with our sun smart routines. Do you remember to reapply sunscreen after two hours in the sun? Or after swimming? The research revealed that in the past 12 months 35% of Kiwi kids have been sunburnt and parents admitted that forgetting or finding it too time consuming was their main reasons for not applying or reapplying sunscreen to their kids.
How much? As a guide, each application requires 7 teaspoons of product – 1 per limb, 1 for your front, 1 for your back and one for your face, neck and ears
How often? Reapply at least every two hours or more often after swimming, sweating or towelling off – make it simple for yourself by setting a timer on your phone
“Reapplying sunscreen at the right time is really important, but less than a third of Kiwis are reapplying every two hours according to the research, putting families at risk of sun damage. It’s also very important to remember to reapply after swimming, perspiring or towelling off.” (Associate Professor Rosemary Nixon, Consultant Dermatologist).

As the mum of 2 young girls, and with a family history of skin cancer (myself) and melanoma (mum and uncle) I am very vigilant on suncare. We would love to try the Banana Boat brand – thank you
We alway cover up and use lots of sunscreen. At the beach we male sure we have a shade tent or umbrella and alway have a hat.
We gave a new baby so a sunscreen that is good for sensitive new skin is very important
Yes please, my little girl is a summer gal and she loves the pool and the beach! We are forever battling to get her to keep her hat on, and apply sunscreen as often as possible. Have never tried the banana boat range, so would love to use this opportunity to try it.
Its a great feeling knowing that using this product to protect my children’s skin is protecting their future.
yes please we would love to try this! im a foster mum and a mother of 2 and always struggle to find good sunscreen for my pale younger child my kids love wearing wide brim hats and rash shirts to keep them protected
With 5 children in my tribe, I need something that will work for all of them and give them the protection they need. My kids know that as they get dressed each morning, the sunscreen must go on before walking out the door
I use rash shirts, hat and sunscreen and try to keep in the shade as much as possible 🙂 would love to trial this sunscreen, it sounds fantastic!
yes please, my little boy loves the great outdoors, he wears a large brim hat, and a one piece when at the beach, and always wears a hat whilst playing outdoors!
I would love to trial these on my 3 children over the summer period . Love the fact that it absorbs into the skin as this can make clothes feel sticky and uncomfortable.
Slip, Slip, slap and wrap! My girls all know this motto and enjoy putting their sum block on, we have a song we sing and everyone helps each other out. We also encourage them to wear bucket style hats so their ears, neck and full face are covered, as well as wearing rash vests while out swimming.
I would love this for my girls, with them both having very fair skin I am always worried they are going to be burnt. I ensure they always have a hat on especially my red head as she has a couple of moles on her sculp I need to keep out of the sun.
I love the banana boat aloe vera cooling gel but am yet to try the sunblock. My son doesnt like me putting sunblock on him because it is too “slimy” so this might be the answer
Yes please with three little ones who love the pool this would be great. Using rash shirts is great but need lots of sunscreen for this summer
Apart from cotton clothing and hats. I get the kids to play outside early morning and evening when sun is not so harsh.
My kids hate something when it’s slimy or won’t absorb into the skin, so this will be good. I have to get sunscreen on them before we leave home to keep them sunsafe, otherwise, they’re off into an activity and hard to keep still for sunscreen!
HI, We focus a lot on covering up and protective shade for the car and avoiding the sun between 11am and 3pm…. would really like to trial the banana boat sunscreen as I find most other products quiet greasy.
I would love to trial banana boat suncream on miss 7 month old this summer and also on miss 10 year old.. miss 10 is very out-doorsy and miss 7 month old LOVES the water so can see her spending oodles of time in the pool over summer!!
My little man would love to try this out. We mainly try and keep him out of the sun but he loves the outdoors so on go the rash tops, sun glasses and hats as well as the greasy sun cream. the hat and sun glasses come off straight away.
It’s scary how harsh the NZ sun is, and how little time it takes to burn. A good sunblock is essential, especially for kids sensitive skin. Kids also need a good wide brimmed hat.
I use a different brand of sunscreen, which doesn’t work to well. Will be great to see if banana boat will keep my family safe. I make my family wear hats as well.
I would love to try the Banana boat sunscreen. My 2 children totally love the beach, so its important for me to always have hats on them, rash suits and plenty of sunscreen. The roll on would be great to try on my youngest and will be a handy size to take everywhere with us.
Regularly apply sun block and keep them covered as much as possible with rash shirts and wetsuits
The NZ sun is so harsh even 15minutes can be dangerous on the kiddos skin. We make sure we’re always decked out in hats and sunscreen (if heading outdoors for longer than 10mins). We also try to cover our skin with clothing as much as is comfortable and at the beach the kids rock the rash vests and shorts as opposed to little togs that expose the skin. We’d love to trial this product as we have plenty of beach trips planned this summer!
Yes please love the Banana boat range , use the spf 50+ Baby one on my son since he was little. Keeps my anxiety at bay to know he is sun safe . I remember getting severely sunburnt as a kid because the sunblock was only spf 15 and spent the day at the beach without reapplying every 2 hours. My worst nightmare would be for my son to get burnt by the 🌞
Would love to trial this, we do everything we can to ensure our two girls are safe in the sun. Not going out in the hottest part or the day, always wearing sunscreen and hats, as well as long sleeve t shirts. And at the beach rash shirts are a must. The sun is just too harsh these days to not take precautions.
This would be great to review! I especially love the idea of roll on sunscreen! We keep our family sage in the sun by applying sunscreen regularly through the summer months, always hats on and avoid the being outside during the hottest part of the day. Regular mole maps for mum and dad too!
By wearing sunscreen and hats and avoiding being out in the hottest part of the day.
I keep my family safe by trying to stay out of the sun at peak sunshine hours. We use sunscreen and have Sunhats on, as Well as have spare Sunhats at key places (kindy, grand house, car).
We would love to try the Banana Boat products. Miss 4 is always coming home from kindy covered in sand, because it sticks to the sunblock. I would love to try something that prevents that. Miss 10 months is in her first summer of needing sun protection so I would love to try something that is specially formulated for babies.
We have sun shades set up in the yard to play in when the sun is out, loads of sunblock, already gone through a whole tube this warm weather, would love to try this banana boat one with the higher spf
Rash suits, hats ,a high spf factor sunscreen and try to stay in the shade .
The new banana boat dry lotion would be great as no one likes the sticky feel of sunscreen.
