Have fun in the summer sun with Banana Boat
Kiwis are very aware of the harmful effects of the sun but recent research* shows that we aren’t that great at keeping up with our sun smart routines. Do you remember to reapply sunscreen after two hours in the sun? Or after swimming? The research revealed that in the past 12 months 35% of Kiwi kids have been sunburnt and parents admitted that forgetting or finding it too time consuming was their main reasons for not applying or reapplying sunscreen to their kids.
How much? As a guide, each application requires 7 teaspoons of product – 1 per limb, 1 for your front, 1 for your back and one for your face, neck and ears
How often? Reapply at least every two hours or more often after swimming, sweating or towelling off – make it simple for yourself by setting a timer on your phone
“Reapplying sunscreen at the right time is really important, but less than a third of Kiwis are reapplying every two hours according to the research, putting families at risk of sun damage. It’s also very important to remember to reapply after swimming, perspiring or towelling off.” (Associate Professor Rosemary Nixon, Consultant Dermatologist).

Im a freckled lily white creature who burns in minutes. Between me , my 3 kids & my partner we could really test this product well!
Would love to try this we have a two year old an 11 month old and another one on the way
Yess please love banana boat
Would love to try, 7 tsp is a good measure, hadn’t thought about it like that before!
Oh interested to read how much we should be using, I don’t use nearly enough!! I will be making sure I put more on me and my family from now on.
We would love to trial these sunscreens, particularly the Banana Boat Dry Balance Lotion, nothing worse than playing in the sand and having it stick to you.
The roll on would be handy to help application on the little ones too.
Yes please would love to be able to trial this product. We have two young girls with very pale skin, and finding a great sunscreen would be awesome. We are already applying sunscreen before going to school. Going to the beach soon where will be in and out of the water and playing on the sand, so this would be fab.
Yes please, would love to trial, three children out in sun and in and out of pools!
My kids have always had rash suits so they are covered when swimming. Followed by sunscreen on exposed skin. We have drummed it into them so they remind us sometimes about putting sun screen on. We try stay in the shade or keep out of the sun at those peak harshest times too.
Yes please would love to trial these & I was just looking through what Sunscreen lotion would be the best to purchase for my family as summer is nearing and the sun is scorching. Currently we wear hats cover body’s and be in the shade as much as we can instead of the sitting in the sun burning. Trailing this would def be good as we can see if this is the product for us ,I am on the hunt for a suncreen lotion especially for my son
I have fair skin and so am very aware of avoiding sunburn for myself and my children (who are luckily less prone to sunburn than myself). I ensure we use sunscreen when out in the sun, cover up eg with rash tops and use the shade when needed. Applying sunscreen to 2 preschoolers is tricky! So a non greasy sunscreen would be very useful
We are big on covering up with clothing, hats, wraps and shade – but this is hard in teh water sometimes! WOuld love to try the baby rollon to see the effectiveness on my babies perfect white skin!
We would love to be picked for this trial. As a recently diagnosed melanoma patient at a young age I have been looking for age new sunscreen to keep my child’s skin protected. It’s so hard to make sure your picking age good product agent quite often I have found they stain her clothes. We always apply sunscreen first thing in the morning and then reapply later in the day. We also try to make sure our skin is covered and that we always have hats on and try to keep in the shade
We slip slop slap and wrap and also try to nab the often elusive shady spots at parks and beaches during the summer. Would love to see if my daughter can use this sunscreen as she reacts to many brands.
We try to stay out of sun during the hottest hours & always try to slip, slop, slap & wrap.
We stay sun safe by using hats, sunglasses and sunscreens and try to avoid being outside at the hottest time of the day. Would love to give this product a try!
Sunsreen, hats and our pop up shade tent! Pops up anywhere best investment ever
We use sunscreen, hats and sunglasses to keep our family safe. We also try and sit in the shade where we can. Would love to try this on my 3 boys.
would love to be a part of this trial, would be nice to have a sunscreen that doesn’t look greasy and wont run. I always get worried about it running into their eyes while playing in the water.
Would be great to trial this product. Being sun safe is so important and great to try new products to non greasy but effective lotions!
Yes please! Would be great to trial this for my baby and toddler. I have used other brands but never tried banana boat before. Thank you
The perfect Product for a hot summer and for staying on the beach. Love it an edit will help to protect my family against the strong NZ sun.
Oooh yes it would be great to try another brand, we usually use neutrogena spray. Particularly when we head to aussie once a year where we tend to spend more time in the sun and outdoors. NZ’s sun is extremely intense so is good to find a supportive fitting sunblock for our conditions. It would be good to see how Banana Boat applies to the skin etc especially every couple of hours.
Living in Hawkes Bay we have to take alot of care in the sun…. We all wear hats and sunnies plus tshirts or rash tops!
Of course we get through alot of sunblock too!
I’d love to try this as I’ve heard lots of bad things about banana boats products…. would like to see for myself
We stay sun safe by covering up (long sleeve rashies at the beach), sunhats, sun glasses and plenty of sunscreen when we’re out and about! A roll on would be great to try for ease of application and the Dry Balance would be great if it’s not sticky like it claims!!
We try to stay indoors at the hottest part of the day but with a very active 3 year old that is not always possible, so we use sunscreen and wear sun hats
We grew up learning to always make sure to slip, slop, slap! This is only the 2nd summer having kids so I would love to review these products for myself, my toddler and newborn and see how effective it really is when used.
Would love to try this on my 3 girls and myself, we go through alot of sunscreen as my girls are very fair. Would like to see if it lives up to it’s name
With so much debate about the effectiveness of sunscreens in the media at the moment I would love to try out a new product in hope that it protects me and my children over this summer. We are also going overseas in a few months so this trial would really benefit us!
With the recent publicity over false claims with SPF protection our family among others are now at a loss on what to then use especially as this heat seems like it is here to stay (no complaints) so would love to trial this product to see if this is something for our tribe of Five.
Would love to try both of these products, both my kids love to spend time in the pool and play outside while that hot sun is at its hottest! I’ve heard great things about banana boat sunscreen so if we are picked will be well used, thank you.
