Build a pillow fort cubby

You don’t need to buy expensive play equipment to improve your child’s gross motor skills. Just challenge them to build their own pillow fort cubby house.  Homemade cubby houses and pillow forts provide hours of imaginative and creative play for children.

What you need:

  • Pillows, pillows, pillows

Optional:

  • Blankets for fort camouflage

Number of players:
1

Activity:

Watch the step by step cubby video below to find out how to make one kind of pillow fort but the options are endless.

You can either make your pillow fort an in-the-round fort, where you surround yourself with a wall of pillows, or a sandbank-style wall fort cubby, where you pile up as many pillows you can find and hide behind it.

The only rule is: have fun!
