Green coin experiment
Science experiments are fun to do and great for children to learn. Try this easy science experiment that will teach your children about oxidisation and its effects.
What you need:
- Copper coin
- Paper towels
Number of players:
Get a few paper towels and stack them on each other to create some thickness.
Pour out some vinegar in the middle of the paper towels so that it is soaked up.
Place a coin on the vinegar area of the paper towel and leave it there.
Leave it for a full day to get the best results.
You will find that the coin has turned green.
- The copper in the coin reacts with the oxygen in the air to form a coating of green copper oxide.
