Make a pretty doughnut garland

Make a pretty doughnut garland

If your child prefers their craft on the sweet side, try making this pretty doughnut garland with whatever is in the craft drawer. This paper craft is perfect as decoration for a kids' party or as a fun party activity as each child can make one, then take it home.

What you need:

  • paper plates (as many as you want for the garland)
  • pink paper (same amount as paper plates)
  • confetti
  • glue stick
  • scissors
  • hole punch
  • some yarn or string (the length you want your garland to be)

Number of players:
1 +

Activity:

Step 1. Before the kids get involved, cut a hole out of the centre of each paper plate, then cut the pink paper into irregular-shaped rings to form your doughnut 'icing'.

Step 2. Let your child use the glue stick to cover underneath the paper plate. Focus on the raised part of the plate, since this is what will give it a 3D doughnut look.

Step 3. Time to ice your doughnuts. Press the pink paper 'icing' onto the glue on each plate.

Step 4. It's sprinkle time! Your child will have lots of fun gluing on the confetti sprinkles.

Step 5. When the glue is dry, punch two holes in each 'doughnut' and thread with yarn or string to form garland. Repeat the first five steps until you are happy with the number of doughnuts for your garland.

Step 6. String up your work and admire it!
