Valentine handprint wall hanging

Valentine handprint wall hanging

Valentine's Day is a wonderful opportunity for the kids to express their love by making special gifts with their own hands. This lovely Valentine handprint wall hanging is fun to make and you can be sure it is made with love  …

What you need:

  • a piece of cardboard
  • A3 paper
  • crepe paper streamers
  • crayons
  • acrylic paints
  • scissors
  • sticky tape
  • paintbrush
  • string

Number of players:
1+

Activity:

Ask your child to make a fist with both hands.

Starting with the left hand, use a paintbrush to paint the bottom edge of their fist (so that their curled pinky finger and the edge of their palm are covered with paint).

Press the painted area onto the A3 sheet of paper to form the left side of a heart.

Repeat with the right hand, to create the right side of the heart.

While the paint is drying, wash off your child's hands and cut the crepe paper into 30cm streamers.

When the painted heart is dry, glue the paper onto the cardboard.

Trim the cardboard so that it becomes a frame around the A3 paper.

Write your child's name below his handprint heart and write 'Happy Valentine's Day' above the heart.

Turn the cardboard over and tape the crepe paper streamers to the back of the cardboard frame so that they hang off the bottom of the cardboard.

Use tape to attach a string hanger to the back.

Hang it up on a wall for everyone to admire!

Notes

  • You could go a little crazy and do multiple hearts on the paper in different colours.
