Balloon ghosts

Get your ghoul on with these fabulous festive balloon ghosts. Add some spooky style to your verandah or table as your kids get crafty with this fun Halloween papier mache craft activity.

What you need:

  • Old newspaper or butchers paper
  • Balloons
  • Wide mouth jam jars
  • White craft glue
  • Water
  • Bowl
  • Paintbrush
  • Large wiggle eyes or felt eyes
  • Scissors

Activity:

Tear up paper into long strips.

Blow up balloons half way so they are about the size of a grapefruit.

Position the balloon, tied end down, on top of a jar.

Mix 1 part water and 2 parts white glue and soak the paper strips in the glue mixture.

Place a strip of paper across the balloon and use the paintbrush to paint glue mixture over the top of the paper.

Repeat this process, criss-crossing paper over itself to cover all sides of the balloon. Let it dry completely.

Pop the balloon and carefully peel it out of the paper mold Glue wiggle eyes or felt eyes on the front of the mold.

Place your ghostly ghouls on the front verandah or table to add some Halloween style to your home.
